Nice to see you guys got out there last night. I think this is the year for Bay Area dsmers. A lot of people have high hopes and goals they are trying to meet. I know I am personally looking to get out there a lot more than once this year..haha. That way I can finally crack off that 10second pass. Then I'm getting a bigger turbo...I'm sick of all my friends making more power..LOL
 
I didn't catch what turbo you switched to. This wasn't on the mighty 14b was it:sneaky:? Nice times also BTW.

Oh yeah! I keep forgetting to update my profile. I'm running a GT35 with other big mods. My mods list is about to change again since Full Function just called today and said they have a leakproof throttle body ready for me! That'll be nice, no more leaky Q45 TB. Plus the car will idle nicer, too.
 
well, i did a little tuning with my car at 13psi today, and it was damn hot out, so i parked it. Then i got motivated and finally built my cold air intake (90* bend from my 2gmaf to the smic location wit a filter on the end) and went out around 10 to do some more tuning. I ended up plugging in the 2g timing map and dialed in my a/f a little and pulled a little more timing for this damn 91 octane gas and had a nice 15psi tune done for like 5-6 pulls. I tried to up the boost more, but it went a little too high so i turned it back to 15 and called it a night.


Im hoping to hit infineon this wed if i can get it off. I might try to do some more tuning beforehand, but if i run the car as it sits now i'll be happy. Its moving pretty good.

Here is a log of a launch through most of 3rd gear after i was done. I'd like to get more timing, but i was just tuning for no knock.

My first run was the only run I could get and my clutch gave up and started to free rev from 4K and up.

Hey i checked out your log, what kind of gas were you using? You are gettting sooo much more timing then me! And a leaner a/f. I want my timing back!!! haha Damn 91 octane! :cry:

EDIT... i just read your post at the top of the page, you are running E85, nice!
 
It was still winter blend so I think it is more like E78 but I am out of injector at 25#'s of boost. I will be making another run for some E85 soon I will post up here to see if anybody wants some.
 
where do you go to get it? And how much is it?

If it were readilly availible around the SF bay area i would switch over to it, but it doesnt seem like it is.
 
Its not in the bay, in San Diego it was $3.17 a gal. It looks like the closest station is in south Fresno area. I get a couple hundred dollars of it at a time and store it in fuel drums. I don't DD my car so it's no big deal for me. 50 gal could last me a month or longer.
 
damn, thats far away for the gas!!! sounds like a plan though since you dont D/D the car.

My clutch let go on my 2nd run last week so I can't make it. Two launches total on it, and it quit holding in 3rd gear. I guess the CFDF PP isnt up to the task. I need a 2600 pressure plate now. Locals PM me if you have a good one and how you liked it.
 
Well I got out tonight and did a little more tuning. Got the boost up to about 18psi. (depending on load) but on flat ground its 18psi.

I'll post the logs, and tell me what you guys think if you have dsmlink to check it out. Tomorrow will be a slight fine tune if i get any good pointers, but otherwise im leaving it alone. I did one 1/4 mile log and it went pretty fast even though i was shifting pretty slow and not too worried about shiftpoints. The other log i was getting onto the freeway and 3rd gear knocked so i shifted to 4th and did a 4th gear pull but had to let off early obviously because i was MOVING, and didnt want to speed too bad.

yeah i plan to use it during the track run. Ive been practicing it and 2-3 and 3-4 are really easy, but its sooo hard for me to remember to do it on the 1-2 shift, the most important shift.

How's my timing look? I was looking at the curve and its not all that great, but its alright i guess for pump gas. My a/f ratios are not that dialed in at 11.0/1, its the lowest dsmlink will go its really like 10.4-10.8, i want to get that dialed in a little better but its hard logging the PLX in the egr temp input, it wont read any less than 11.0 so i'd really have to watch the realtime display.
 
Yeah I have a hard time with the 1-2 shilt also. I would keep your timing where your at and drop a couple of gallons of 100 in at the track just to kill the knock completely. We just can't work with the Ca pump like you can in other states.

I'm still waiting to get the new TB flange welded on the smim. So I'll bring the Laser. I'm curious to see what it can do.
 
I might do the wednsday night drags the first week of june. I havent been to infineon in a couple years. I think its time to revisit that track.

I gotta settle a couple minor things with the current setup (clutch disk is toast, install an oil cooler, fine tune) then I am good to go. Who went to this past CMI? I ran into one guy with a red 2G out there, forgot the name, but said it was pretty much stock + free mods. Other than that, I dont know what happened to the Trevtec car? me and him made our first passes of the day, and my clutch went south, while something happened in his lane.

Gotta love how DSMs conspire together against their owners.

And mahesh, we gotta get that tranny in!
 
I had a pretty good night, i hit a couple of new personal bests.

First run 1.83 60ft, 13.0@ 103.53
Second 1.92 60ft, 13.189 @104.3 (sleeping at tree and left a little funny)
Third - 1.763 60ft, [email protected]
Fourth - they put in the wrong dial in and it was just an overall janky run, i didnt even get a slip.
Fifth - 1.772 60ft, 13.1@104, I raced Kahfae on this one and i missed 3rd gear but still knocked him out, sorry kahfae!
6th - 1.773 60ft, 12.815 @106.46


All runs were at about 18-19psi, i had some problems, but hey it was my first passes of the season! I'll go switch computers and get the video's uploaded then post em up.

I hit 3 new personal bests, 1.763 60ft, 12.814 ET, and 106.46 MPH are all my best. I'll take a guess that i have my best 8th mile and 8th mile mph, but i dont really keep track of those.

I'll let dave and kahfae post up how they did, i'll have the videos up as well asap.

Anyway, I apparently forgot how to launch an awd without the help of a stutterbox LOL. I didn't have it enabled and left my laptop at home. My runs were all over the place tonight. Only ran a 13.4 tonight, oh well. It was nice to find out that the car was still running alright after I boiled all the coolant out of it on Saturday at the track.
 
Yes, that was fun! My Laser is slow, but it was still great just to be out there racing.
My best time was 14.114, best mph was 106.63, all on pure 91 craptane. The aero mods helped with the top speed. :)

The run that knocked me out of brackets was the tightest I've seen so far. I dialed a 14.10 and ran 14.114, My opponent dialed a 14.80 and ran 14.809!
egad, that's a squeeker. (not to be confused with a 'pooter') LOL

I might've gone a little faster, except my gas tank was completely full. That's like an extra 65 pounds right over the rear axle, which is not the best place to add weight on a FWD.
I filled it right before driving to the track so I could keep tabs on my mpg. That fillup used 12.192 gallons to cover 571.4 miles. :rocks: So now it's a 46.8mpg Laser!WTF

Next time I'm going to install AGX's on the rear covered by cheap eBay coilovers with stiff springs, and maybe some stickier tires off my Talon, and 1/4 tank of 100 octane. I might have a chance at 12's if the track prep is perfect, and the wind dies down, and the temp stays cool, and my tranny shifts right, and I don't blink at the wrong time, and my motor stays in one piece, and....
so what could go wrong with a 230k mile old DSM?:rolleyes:
 
Yeah, i was racing with 3/4 of a tank of gas. Usually i shoot for like 1/4 tank. Oh well.

I think next time out i'll have some leadded gas in there and crank the boost way up. then see what happens as im buying a new turbo setup next week. It wont go on my car for a month or two, but i'll have it ready to go on!!!

Im still uploading the last two videos. I'll have em posted up by tomorrow sometime. Im going to bed now!

Does anyone know the info on the sac raceway test and tune? Edwin's thread got deleted and im interested in going up there to try my hand at maxing out the 16g.
