1G 04 Lancer OZ Rally suspension swap in 1g?

I live in Billings, MT and the DSM parts cars are pretty limited. I need to rebuild the suspension on my 1990 Talon AWD turbo. there are stress fractures and loose bushings everywhere. Thought I should upgrade while I'm at it.

There is an 04 Lancer OZ Rally FWD not to far away that I could pick up cheap. I was wondering even if I had to do a complete swap and find some spindles and rotors will the parts mate up to the Talon chassis?

I'm pretty good with cars, this is just my first bout with DSM and I would like to know what I might be getting in to if I go this route. Thanks!
 
IIRC, it should be an evo8 and the suspension should be easily swappable, F&R.

these would be useful in swapping the "8" suspension

other than that, go for it. i plan on doing this swap for some evo 8 suspension in the near future, full coilovers. with these components

He said Lancer OZ, which is just a fwd Lancer n/a, not an Evo at all. About the only thing that is swapable is the struts with a little modification. Everything else is very much different, the lower control arm mounting is different, different style lower ball joint, the spindles won't work either.

The front struts will work with some modification, they are just as likely to be blown as yours. I would just get on rockauto.com and get what you need off of there and fix it correctly the first time.

In the mean time I will chip away at the list with piece parts.

And if I want a complete suspension system what cars should I be looking for? 2gs? lancer evos? Vr4s? All of the above?

You have a 1g, the only parts that are going to be a direct bolt on are from a 1g, or a early 90's galant. It is kind of silly to buy used suspension parts though, you would me much better off to just buy new parts from rockauto because most used parts are going to be just as worn as your parts.
 
since you have an awd, the info provided by me would be relevant. the oz lancer you are posting about isnt much good to you. simple modding from evo8's, or just buy 1g suspension.

2g-4g isnt even close.

you can always look into shipping parts. or ask MT frequenter like myself to meet up with you.

quite true. i just look at the awd factor and he could be into and evo8 suspension relatively cheap. its an option, not the best, but better than paying 1-1.5k for some "OK" megan coilovers...
 
Ya the only reason I would be considering the parts car thing would be because it would be economical for the time being. Direct bolt on or otherwise. Mostly was wondering about the ability to upgrade suspension, spindle, rotars, a-arms ect. In one fell swoop to result in less roll and better handling for <1000. If not I can just buy parts. I have all intentions of getting he good stuff when I have some funds for it..
Any way thanks and for something for me to dream about. Best inverted shock coilovers are???
