Its different year to year. Your picture looks correct.

I was able to get all the other things except the left time to exactly the right time.

When trying to time the cams the left cam was slightly off assuming because of the springs ( i don’t know barely anything about cars ) was told by a friend that it should be okay and have no issues but want to double check, is there any issues with this?

I was able to move the left cam so the marks on the cam lined up, but the belt doesn’t sit flat on top of both cams when it’s like this, i think i’ve got to be missing something but have zero clue what it is

Did yellow marks because i’m assuming whoever worked on it last had replaced the cam gears wrong since R is on the left and L is on the right.

Can’t seem to find any videos / posts with the exact issue i’m having any links would be appreciated

Youre at least a tooth off. Looks like more. Not just one gear, both. Bottom looks wrong also on oil pump. Hard to tell from camera angle.

Yeah I thought so, I ended up stopping for tonight there cuz it got super late going to start back on it tomorrow to get everything back in time, Will update with pictures + videos to get some feedback if it looks good before i close it up.

If you look closely both cam sprockets are identical (except on 95/96 due to the cam sensor location) so it doesn't matter which side. The timing marks ARE different one side from the other on a sprocket. One mark is on a tooth and the other on a valley so that when the sprocket is on the intake side its mark is on the tooth side and the exhaust side it's in the valley and they both line up on the same plane as where the head and block meet.

Note that this puts the one timing mark a few degrees short of 90 which puts the exhaust camshaft dowel pin advanced from 0 degrees when correctly timed. Not that most can see the difference from being straight up.

All the timing marks must be correct when the crank timing lines up and you have to be extra careful with the oil pump sprocket since it also has a phasing to get right.

I don't use one of these cam sprocket locks because they can make it hard to get the belt positioned correctly. I start with the exhaust sprocket at rest, clip the belt to it, and advance the sprocket to fit the intake one with the marks aligned and clip the belt to the intake. If they aren't correctly lined up they are going to get better as you work around so get then right now. Then past the idler pulley to the oil pump
making sure that there isn't any slack in the belt by backing the oil pump sprocket a little bit to make it easy to get the belt on and then moving it forward to the timing mark making sure the cams still line up with each other and the head parting line. Same deal for the crank, back a bit to get the belt on the right tooth and forward to the timing mark to check it's the right tooth with no slack. Up to the tensioner pulley where any belt slack get taken up by rotating the pulley (down on a 2G) into the belt. If you've done it correctly all the marks will still line up, if not do it again.
