Can you guys please confirm the torque specs for the front cross member that goes from the subframe to the chasis under the transmission and the subframe stay plates (see pictures below)?

I found the specs below within the Torque Specifications for 1995-1999 DSMs document but the values seem/feel too high. I’ve torqued all bolts down to 35 ft.lbs so far and they already feel too tight. I’m afraid I will end up with yet another broken bolt if I add 20+ ft.lbs! I’m starting to see the frame bow in as I torque down the front bolts with the large washers of the cross member. I’d appreciate your help with this!

My factory 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Service Manual shows the same torques.
I guess I’ll creep up to the listed torque values, cross my fingers/toes and hope for the best.

Thanks for checking!

Here are photos of those pages from the factory service manual:

Not sure why the concern. Those aren't little 8m bolts. Everything is under 60 lbs. My opinion, set the torque wrench and be done. If something does break it points out an issue with either the wrench or the car. I've undone and redone these same fasteners 100 times if I've done them once. Never did they even hint at anything weird.

My car has been apart more times than I care to mention and every single time all those bolts are either impact or cordless ratchet, not one has broken or stripped LOL.
I'm with you. I quit counting after about 50 transmission drops.

Probably just PTSD from dealing with a few broken bolts recently LOL also the nomenclature is all over the place online, some places call it cross member, center member, they also use cross member when referencing the subframes, etc. Just wanted to make sure I had the correct values that was the main concern.

Thanks again guys!
