Man yall are wild. You all forget about fatigue, every time you let that retarded huge clutch slam shut it puts a huge torque spike into the trans, and it adds a lot of fatigue cycles.

Grant thinks in V8 RWD. And the from the trans back ends up upgraded so that it survives a bunch of clutch dumps and eventually one gets the trans.

We on the otherhand have a driveline that breaks if you look at it funny, and we know it. So we baby the piss out of them on the launch or break axles an tcases and we rarely break a trans from shock on the launch. It's amusing that we have figured that much out, but we can't figure out that dumping the clutch on a shift DOES THE SAME f***ING THING.

On the bearing plate, I've seen 2 break in my carreer. Jasons, and boostin long long ago. I'm roughly half convinced it's from running crazy preloads on the trans.

Last thing, at 500ft*lbs if you choose the correct trans and don't try to break it, the trans will live a pretty decent life. It will eventually die though. Even the mighty PPG will eventually have a fatigue failure at 500ft*lbs - it's just that most have parted out before they get that many fatigue cycles on them.

The 7/8 sec Honda guys I hang out with up here seem to have it figured out, most of them swap out the PPG input and final drive after a certain number of full hits because it's a known fatigue part, cheaper to replace a shaft before it grenades all the rest of the parts.

Many quick Honda guys use strain gauge shifters to kill engine torque momentarily, which in-turn softens the shifts.
