so more than likely i have to replace my transmission. i drive a 97 gsx and when i press the over-drive button y car jumps to red lineinstead of reducing in rpm's and stays at what ever speed i was going at. i am wondering if there are transmissions out there that can increase speed or is oem tranny the only one i can buy/rebuild.

IPT does a lot of DSM auto transmission work. There's an automatic transmission forum sponsored by IPT. DSM Talk has an even more extensive A/T forum with some info. on a shop in Cali. (Dunrite Convertors).

Don't spend money on an expensive rebuild. All you need are the end clutches, from IPT for $90. Get them, install them yourself, and be done!
