So I know I said I wouldn't post this, but I'm just way to happy and proud of what I have accomplished. Some people know about this build and alot of people don't. This thread should answer everyone's questions they've had about doing this swap.

I'm going to start off saying I'm not a Professional but I have the will power and determination. I woke up one morning and thought about how screwed up my 420a powered talon was, and thought wouldn't it be nice to actually have a straight front end on this thing. When I bought my talon I got it for 300, without an engine, and some pretty bad front end damage. I found a 97 gst for 200 on Facebook and stole all the parts I needed since it was extremely rusted out. The front clip was pretty much the only salvageable body part off the car. The roof, fenders and doors either had huge dents or cancer from rust. My non turbo talon had some nasty repair done to the strut tower from someone smashing into a guard rail, so this swap had to be done. I also had 3 4g63 engines laying around and all sorts of parts from past builds.

All in all the swap wasn't to bad. It took me about a month. These cars were both headed for the junkyard so I did what had to be done. I posted all of this in my build thread but I kind of wanted to show everyone what I accomplished. I'm not 100 percent sure where this should have been posted or even if I'm able to post it.

I know this is a stupid question, so if I had a good 420a car and swapped the k member with a 4g the other mounts wouldn't line up I'm sure but how far do the have to move and is it worth it?

I have a Spyder and there's just to much damage to the roof frame and I know it's going to be hard to find the parts I need for a decent price. I'd really like a solid body, I'm just curious of the time and effort if it'd be worth trying to find a 420 shell since they are in more of abundance?

Hold out for a 4g63 car. There is far more work than you may realize. Entire wiring harness, ECU, clutch, brake, steering and fuel line routing all different.
This is on addition to cut and fabricate all motor mounts etc. On top of that you need the full drivetrain, trans, axles and exhaust etc.
So not worth it.

Might as well put a 4g63 into any car. Would be same amount of work. The fact the exterior body looks the part is not relevant.

The subframes will bolt up but you have to cut out the frame rails on both cars and swap them.

I agree it's not worth it. If your trying to make power save up for a 4g63 car. I don't hate a nice turbo 420a either but I wouldn't chop up cars now knowing what I know. My car was already in shambles and the doner one was beyond rotten. Either save or just buy what you can and make it yours. The 420a is honestly pretty enjoyable on 8 pounds of boost to me personally.

Hey I appreciate that fast response yall for real and thats all I needed to hear. I unfortunately don't have the 4g63 I have the 64😢 Spyder everything's mechanically sound on 20,000 on a fresh rebuild (motor) I only paid 500 for it so I couldn't pass it up but every day I find something body or top wise and it's like damn I love the car after only having it little over a month (coming out of an 8th gen Civic SI said that's all I'd own LOL guess I'm a DSM man now) but I don't want to put all the money in fixing the canvas and top frame (if I can find the parts LOL).

I wanted to restore it to OEM as much as possible but it seems like more then it's worth everytime I find something new the problem is it sat for 3 years and I just saved it before it was too late and everything needs done but thank you again for the response.

Curious 👀
Those front sub frames look sooo similar minus the rear engine mount location

If some one welded that rear engine mount in the other location, do you think you could still use it ?

Or is it simple that the front frame is tailored specifically to the respective engine ?

Could someone get creative with a torch to mod the 420 frame to fit the 4g63 ?

OP brings up a good point, the quality, price and abundance of GS shells 🐚 might be worth it ? They come with the all black leather interior we never see common on the gst/x

The rear engine mount you could definitely swap over and weld it but since I had the gst subframe I just swapped the whole thing over.

The problem with the frame rails is the hump to clear the transmission, it gets weird. That's why the only real option is to cut them out and weld in a set from a doner. That's only the tip of the iceberg though. The whole harness has to be swapped and the same goes for the dash wiring. Certain years are different and cause weird things together. My first problem I found was when I'd hit the brake the starter would engage.

Exactly my point. Too many differences.

Yeah if it was just moving some mounts and the bay harness maybe but I agree it's too much

I just want to say thanks again for the fast responses. I just made this profile right before my first question and was expecting it to be a few days to a week or more before I got a response, so thanks for making me feel welcomed to the forums and that I'm not alone in my project.

I just started about a month ago I have a long way to go and I'm glad to have found a community that loves their DSM as much as I love mine even tho it's my first it definitely won't be my last

Translate: Hello, good morning, are you still in this forum? I would like to ask you some questions friend recently I got into my head to change my engine of my 420a for a 4g63t and I found a GS-T to restore the problem is that it was a car that was stopped for a long time and is very oxxid the part to save is the engine and accessories etc I think most of the things to make a complete change but I was very curious about your graft of the chassis formal part to not to modify supports etc. I want to know how much it worked and how was your experience over time? I was simply thinking of making the necessary adjustments in supports etc. to accommodate the engine because I practically have all the complete GST for the swap
