I have one of the early 95' 2G's and the SRS light is on solid. All the factory original SRS equipment is in place. The internet says the SRS system is independent, and the normal approach at grounding a pin the in OBD-II port will not work. A MUT-II or MUT-III scanner is recommended to clear the code.

The internet also thinks the SRS computer may suffer from leaking CAPS same as the fatory ECU.

What is available today to help pinpoint the failure, and who works on these boards?

I had this issue a few years back. IIRC, I thought I may have accidentally powered on the car without the airbag plugged in which I read would turn the light on until reset. I couldn't get my hands on a scanner that would reset it, so I just bought a used replacement ECU which didn't fix it. It turned out to be a wire in the clockspring that had gone bad. I think I was able to use a multimeter to check the clockspring wires.

In my experience the module is always the fault underneath the center console. I have typically just unplugged them and the light will turn off on its own

A few months ago there was some one in Europe in the newbie forum trying to diagnose it with a mut2 tool, I do not recall if he resolved the situation but he needed the system functional to pass inspection (im not sure how they would verify it functioned if the light was off)

There is a magic code, that I don't know, that is required to reset the SRS light that the MUT tools know how to send. The 3000GT guys figured it out by snooping the diag bus when resetting it and made a tool to do so but wanted too much money for me to be interested in buying one.

On the early 3000GT cars there was a way to cycle the ignition switch that sometimes worked.

This only works on 92's according to the 92-96 3S manual.

NOTE
1. From 1993 model, the SRS warning light illuminates
also when the battery voltage drops. In that case,
the SRS warning light goes out if the battery voltage
returns to the normal level.
2. On 1992 model, if the vehicle has a discharged battery
or battery power supply (multi-purpose fuses No. 11
or No. 18) is disconnected with the ignition key in
the “ON” position, the SRS warning light will continue
to illuminate even after the battery is recharged or
the fuses are replaced in their original positions. In
this case, the SRS warning light can be extinguished
by turning the ignition switch ON and OFF 10 times.
