Can I be both? I am all of number 2 but I like to make fun of other cars every now and again, all in good fun though. I can take a hit too so don't think I will get ass hurt when you make fun of me. Case in point people bringing up my 1320 time for no apparent reason, but I don't care. My car is slow so what?

I'd rather buy a stock (slow) DSM and build it myself, than buy it already partially built from someone else.

Defanently agreed. My 15 was merely a starting point as far as car goes and as well as me. Oh well haters gunna hate.

Oh not alot, just added dual wally's, -8 line all around, Aeromotive Filter and AFPR, Magnus fuel rail, 1250cc injectors, ecmlink, tuned SD and e85, PR FMIC, PR Aluminum Radiator kit, dual 12" slim fans, Dejon 3" intake, K&N cone filter, evo3 16g on 26psi, 3" Pacesetter DP, 3" magnaflow highflow cat, 3" pipe all the back, out a Apexi N1. She is currently under the knife also get a 2.3 long block, BSE, built head with 275 cams, port work, 3g lifters, new springs, keepers, etc. Also getting balanced and ready to run at 8000 rpm. after that an hx40 and some 1600cc injectors. But ya, minor work, nothing to worry about....

And cars "better" than mine is just a matter of preference...;)

I do appreciate well built cars over biasm, but there is still the cars that I dont like, everyone has those cars. Be it hondas, or srt4s or what have you, I can respect a well built one though, no matter what, its just the run of the mill cars that are the ones I am against. Hondas with fart cans, mild built srt's, they are merely a mildly built turbo neon in my eyes. But that is just my opinion.

And I am sure that last part was partially pointed at me, I'm not here to prove nothing. I am just here at this point now cause someone brought up my 1/4 mile time out of no relivance to this thread, so now here I am just letting them know whats up. :thumb:

Jesus, OP wanted a legit discussion on what was a better car between three choices, when 90% of posters here are DSM and AWD fanbois? Wasn't going to happen here, obviously.

The orignial question was kind of confusing though, AWD should not be part of the equation since neither the SRT nor the Cobalt are AWD.

AWD, people, believe it or not, is NOT the end-all answer to performance cars. Take your tired AWD POS with garbage suspension and worn out control arm and sway bar bushings to your next track day and see how it performs against ancient Miatas and Integras, let alone late model stuff as mentioned above. You will realize your all wheel drive crutch is not enough to make you a "real" performer. There are many other things to consider which make a car a great all around performance car besides AWD and a 4G63.

Furthermore, alot of people are taking their modified cars into comparison between the other two. Not really comparing apples to apples, a much better comparison would be a stock DSM versus the other two.

My honest opinion is stock for stock, most late model stuff is going to blow the DSM out of the water, hands down, which is expected. Modified cars are a different story, but at that point, there are way too many variables to try to determine which is "better", whether in a straight line or for handling performance. Regardless, anything can be fast fairly easy nowadays.

I'd have to say the quality of people in the DSM world seems to be taking a nose dive. Half of you are acting like 18 year old kids fighting over who gets laid the most....:toobad:

I'll tell you what it looks like to me. There are 2 kinds of DSM'ers

Type 1: Kids(doesn't necessarily mean you have to be young, but is the case most of the time) that don't have enough money to get a nice car so they buy the cheapest car they can that has potential(DSM) and all they do is go around talking garbage. IE, 2G's are girls cars, SRT-4's are skittles blah blah blah...

Type 2: DSM owners(1 or 2G) that own the cars because of the love of them. You will see these guys/girls take very good care of their cars and don't go around asking if ebay parts are the way to go. You will also notice that they really don't knock other cars and can appreciate almost any vehicle on the road. These are true car enthusiasts.

So please, if you are type 1, just read more and type less...

No because you are the typical idiot that this forum doesn't even need. You can talk trash on the SRT I could care less I'll be in my e46 or e92 m3 soon or an Evo 9 so I only bought it to hold me over until then. Plus you can talk all the trash you want on my old GSX the thing is more well known then your car will ever be...there is a reason for that.

Actually, how can my actions in the Hangout be portrayed to how I act on the rest of the forum? To my recollection this is a place to just chill and not be so stuck up and technical about everything. SO I really dont have to act any certain way, thanks for your concern though. The title clearly states skittle vs dsm vs rattlecan. As i said in the post you quoted... This is also clearly a dsm forum, hence the dsmtuners...

It also started as a "srt neon". Then changed its name to a "dodge srt 4". They never used neon and srt 4 together. Even though it is still a neon.

A low 10 sec neon? Is this a daily driver?

It will probably never be a low 10 second car, high 10 second with lots of driver practice and luck/slicks/track prep etc sure. The potential is there, just depends on the owners budget.

No sir, if you are referring to my comments, it wasnt directed toward you. I was more aiming at 97, just due to him acting like a tool about it all. I had no hard feelings toward anyway at the beginning, i was just having a good laugh and having some fun in the hangout section, but 97 decided to get sand in his pu$$y and get but hurt over a joke, thus this is where we sit now. Its all good, mucho respect to you and your family, and congrats! :)
 
This thread is precisely why I hate being associated with these cars, the owners are idiots. As said before, the quality of people in this scene has taken a nose dive the last few years. I used to think Honda guys were bad back in the day, now I think DSM guys are the worst. I hate to say it, maybe Buschur was right, maybe all of these cars are junk, and all of the owners are morons. I think I'll keep my 1g but tell nobody I own one in fear of being lumped in with most of the d-bags in this thread.

Hey, That isn't nice, you actually know me personally and I aint really like this in person! ;) But I started out being a nice guy and keeping on topic, and having a lil fun time, but then people take stuff to seriously...and then it gets blown out of proportion, and now I am just dragging it on for the sheer fact that he is still being serious. I agree. Idk some may say that I am part of that through this thread but oh well. I am usually a nice guy, but something has taken over me :S maybe I have aten to many skittles? HAHAHAHAAHAH (literally and metaphoracly with my talon) :sneaky: jk I only raced one, and he was pretty quick, but I won due to him breaking a motor mount off the line. I had a major boost leak too, but it woulda been a close race, I wish we woulda been able to duke it out. and BTW he calls it a neon.
 
Here is my two cents, take it or leave it. I would still Go with a TSi or GSX all day. Srt-4's are cool, but they will always just be a neon. I mean come on crank up windows in the back power up front.:ohdamn: WTF@! I will admit they do have alot of top end, but they just cant leave. If they had all wheel drive, it def would be nice. But build for build, I still think you could make a more reliable motor out of a 4G63 then the 2.4 srt motor. On the other hand with the cobalts. When the first ones came out, they didn't impress me at all. My stock Tsi waxed one bad!! But the new and last year turbo Cobalts are prety sweet. No lift shift, brembo brakes. And atleast its a 2 door unlike the grandma car srt4. But all in all I would keep the DSM!!
