as some of you know I wrecked my 93 laser RS converted to turbo, significant damage. So I bought a 3g eclipse GS a few days ago and realized that it has the 4G64! obviously I am going to turbo this ride. Now I have looked various places and have decided to pay a shop to do the work, things like the oil return line and ecu problems are just too much labor and more then not problems arise. Sooo, I am looking to put on a 16G w about 6-8 psi, just like I did with my 93 except this motor has good rings and is supposedly able to handle 14psi stock(save the head only allows 13psi of flow or so). Now I have looked at kits

here is what it will look like, these are pics from http://www.ddynopower.com/

Tomorrow at work since it'll be dead in the morning i'll see if i can find a little more helpful info

yeah, I'm definitely getting the AEM standalone for this setup. The 18G sounds good, I've done some more research on it and it appears to be adequate for this setup however a garret t3/t4 also sounds like it would work well.

I'm also getting the RPW 8.5:1 forged pistons and the RPW 272/272 cam

I'm looking at pictures of 3G turbo exhausts and it appears as tho people are just making the manifold right off of the turbo bypassing the o2 housing, now I'm more familiar w the 1G's so I don't see how that can happen, are they just skipping the first o2 sensor? or is there even a first o2 sensor up front? I found a good deal on a new garret t3/t4 but i can't find a O2 housing for it, someone straighten this out.

Also, where can I find an intercooler that will bolt up to the 3G? I see cloud's Intercooler but it's universal and takes more modifications to make it fit/work.

My friend [Cloud] bought the o2 flange and had an exhaust shop make the mandrel bent exhaust. He put his o2 sensor off of the downpipe. About the intercooler, I believe his bolted up nicely. He just drilled holes in the metal bumper so he could bolt the intercooler to the bottom of it. I can't remember how he did his piping though, but the intercooler install looked pretty basic to me.

Nice to see someone else going with the 4G64 motor vehicle. I have turboed my 7g galant and I can't stress most that you will love the look on others faces as you pass them on the highway. btw slowboy has most of the parts if you want to do the dohc swap and build the bottom end. www.Tearstone.com also has many parts to turbo your 3g

well the intercooler piping is what I was referring to, I would hate to get a "universal" kit and then not have enough piping or not enough bends, I was thinking of buying 2 kits and then cutting/fitting them. also, the piping I was looking at does not have rolled edges, could I just heat them up and hit them w/a hammer to roll them?

I know I can't wait to turbo my 3G, everyone says they are a disappointment from Mitsubishi but I disagree! I can't wait to go to the track and run 12's, after of course I get the car tuned and turn up the boost to say 18psi, I'm piecing together the it right now, figuring out prices and the such and then I will start ordering parts next week.

looks like I have to find some EVO piping. the first thing I'm going to do is put on the front mount and some of the piping, I like to do things in steps so I'm not rushed and I can still drive the car. next I will probably upgrade to the AEM EMS, just tune it for stock for right now. step three will probably be the 3" catback w/high flow cat, do think that will sound raspy? I'm lookin for a deep tone, on my 1G this setup had a deep tone. I'll also have them custom make a manifold to a blank adapter, I'm thinkin about doin some stainless steel braided lines for that AC, at least a foot on each line anyhow. Then as the last step I'll drain the oil, pull the oil pan, bolt up the evo oil pickup and oilpan, install the sandwich adapter in the oil filter housing and run a feed line off of it, then bolt up the oil drain tube. Then I'll mount the exhaust manifold and turbo, (I might get some slimline fans for more room). Next it's going to be the injectors and AFPR along with the 255lph fuel pump. Hook up the rest of the IC piping and BOV (probably use my 1G) and hook up a turbo air intake(I'm not goin for the CAI thing, too much water around here.) then I'll pull the valve cover and put in the 272/264 Cam, there has to be a way to that without taking off the timing belt isn't there? Then I'll mount the external wastegate and probably put a dump on it, hook up the vacuum lines and all the gauges (Boost, Oil pressure, and coolant temp, (little worried about the underhood temps.) I might be forgetting something but i think that's the majority of it.

oops, forgot the water lines, I'll just run those off the throttle body, do I need to block that off?

well, I'm almost done w my turbo setup on my 3g, just thought someone would want to know how it's goin, heres some pics:

That is coool. I have never seen a turbo 3g before.

They have done evo motor and drivetrain swaps on them and have 4g63 and awd. Talk about amazing.

Anyway glad to see your getting further on your project looks great:thumb:

post #33: Is that car up and running yet? The MAS is in the upper charge piping, I didn't think they liked that! :)

The mas will be moved if I have problems, I really want to vent the BOV, The air goes through the mas before and after the turbo at the same speed, the only difference is that after the turbo the air is compressed, will I see that many problems from that? if so I might get a GM 3"er, I'll have to look for one I'm not sure if they make it for the 3G eclipse.. anyone know?

btw yeah the car is up and running, I'm taking it to get the wastegate dump done and a new FMIC up, the one I have is too big, hopefully the EO downpipe I'm gettin will fit and not hit the AC. then all I need is tuning, I'm puttin in the RC 550's saturated injectors I got, I plan on pushing 8 psi street and 15 race, hopefully that will put me at 280 to the wheels, the t3/t4 spools up Nice on the 2.4, full spool arounf 2800rpms, of course theres no downpipe... anyone know how to hook up the external wastegate's vaccum lines?

I'm a little worried about heat so I'm getn slimlines, water wetter, and a better radiator, hopefully the new FMIC will let more air through

here's a bunch of pics, like 80, of the project if anyone wants to check them out:
