i have a 95 gsx with 108,000 miles on it i just got the bottom end of the motor rebuilt because i spun a bearing. the guy that rebuilt it put new bearings, ring, oil pump, and all new gaskets, but after i broke the motor in i bought a new valve cover that was powder coated. and before i put it on i saw that there was some sand in it. i cleaned it out to the best of my knowledge there was no more sand in it, put it on and a few days later i started her up, to let her warm up for a while and i came back outside and she was making a weird clinking noise(not a tick) so i revd it up to see if it would get worse and it stopped the clinking noise, but it sounded like it shot something out of it, and now its just thick, thick, thick noise, OH yea i forgot it only makes the noise if the is warmed up not when its cold at all. And for some reason my oil pressure gauge hasn't worked since Ive pretty much had the car. and it leaks oil i think out of the head because of the top right bolt that bolts down the valve cover is stripped does any one out there no what the hell is wrong with my baby. I haven't drove her in a while can someone help me get her back on the road please.

Well the best thing to do would be, just to get a 6 bolt swap. But like most DSMers we don't have money burning a hole in our pockets.

Also does it run at all anymore? Or are you just not choosing to drive it becasue of the sounds? If it does run, does it smoke?

The first thing I would do is try and get that oil pressure gauge working, and see if it does infact have any oil pressure. Then get a stethascope and listen and see if it is for sure coming from the top end of the motor, of if its the bottom end.

Yea it does run and it doesn't smoke at all that ive noticed, and i would hook up an oil gauge but i really dont know how to do it and how would i go about listening to the motor with a tethascope(and were would i get one). and i do just let it sit cause i know it would just make it worse to drove it. So could you tell me how to go about doing it. please sir

no i dont think thats what he was getting at. he just wants to know if the sound is coming from the bottom of the block (the crank) or the top (the cams/lifters) the sound should be obvious enough just from sticking ur head down close while its idling

yea but i realy cant tell, what about one of those tethascopes how would i go about getting one of those. and im just about positive thats its not from the bottom just because everything is brand new and its always got oil in it. even with the oil leak. but thats from the valve cover bolt being stripped, oh yea and i appreciate all the advise.
