So after fighting with setting all my sensors and boost leak testing about a hundred times i have discovered that the throttle body i received and installed is sticking. holding the throttle plate open about 1/8 inch and the spring is not able to pull shut. Reason must be due to a sticking throttle plate. Was not doing so before the install but i think now due to the heating and cooling from being installed this has occured.

have any of you other DSMers ever received a throttle body from this company and had troubles with it?

I purchased the 65mm throttle body with half shaft mod.

I dont know if it will be easier just to fix myself with a little sand paper or try to send it back for a refund or new one.

please respond with feedback.

thanks

I have a throttlebody.com n/t tb on my car. I have no complaints with it at all. Never had an issue with it sticking and it doesn't leak one bit. I would personally recomend them to anyone looking for a oem TB.

I agree with the others that you should try adjust it.

I have gotten 2 of them from him, a 2G bored to 54mm or 58mm...I forget and also a 1G bored out to 62.5mm. I never had a problem with them sticking open, however I have an issue with it sticking when opening from the closed position. Now, it's a weird thing and may have to do with being bored larger. If the throttle plate is completely closed and I step on the gas lightly, it will feel stuck and I will need to press harder...it only does this on decel or if I blip the throttle. When the engine is off it's smooth as silk! I'm thinking that it must have something to do with engine vacuum suction on the back of the throttle plate. I have called him when it happened on the 2G TB and he was very nice, but he was stumped as to the reason.

yea i took the idle switch (idle stop) all the way out, then was able to close by hand another good amount.

I will be sending him an email here in a few to get this resolved. Other then this error the TB is awesome and looks to be good quality work. Probably just received one with error.

thanks

Ive been the website and they seem really good ill be shipping mine out for service to them soon.

To the website, i meant.

The idle switch needs to be threaded in just enough to not hold the throttle plate open, but enough to keep the plate from sticking shut when released from WOT and slamming shut.

Unless the issue is that the plate wasn't perfectly centered when it was screwed down? But then it wouldn't close properly at all, regardless of idle switch position.

when i open and close the throttle by hand theres a pretty bad scuffing sound and scratchy feeling to it.. shouldnt it be smooth? Also , isnt the idle switch suppose to be tightened down until it reads a certain OHMS reading?

Have the same issue with their 1G throttle body. No solution as of yet.

The idle switch needs to be adjusted to keep the plate from sticking like Brian said, but it also needs to be in far enough, or enough spring pressure, the push the button on the idle switch in, grounding the switch, and letting the ECU know it needs to idle.

Btw, I got a rebuilt TB from Brian and it's been working great! Definitely recommend him for your rebuilds!
