I bought my Talon in March of 2012. It didn't have much at all done to it. Since then I have swapped to a 1G 7 bolt top end. And then to a 6 bolt long block. Every timing I have switched the heads, I have switched the engine coolant temp sensors.

This weekend I realized my fans were running as soon as I first started my car. I went and checked the engine coolant temp sensor to make sure it was plugged in. It was. I unplugged it and looked at it. This is not a 2G sensor! Neither is the plug?

Did the previous owner wire in a 1G plug and a 1G sensor? If so, would this work?

That is indeed the 1g sensor. As far as if it works I'm not sure, as I've never tried it.

The connector looks pretty corroded, but maybe it's just the picture. Even if it does work that connector looks pretty iffy. Have you tested it to see if it at least has continuity?

The connector is a 1G connector too, I believe. It is pretty dirty so I will have to clean it.

I have not checked to see if it has continuity.

Bought a 2G sensor, waiting for it to be shipped. Then I will use female wire connectors until I find a 2g plug. Crazy stuff.

I never noticed my fans coming on in the past prior to the 6 bolt swap. Using a scan tool, I was able to read my coolant temperature. Doesn't make sense.

If you have a code reader with live data you could look at the coolant temp see if it's reading correct. Mine has a obd2 port I'm assuming yours does. Also it's not the a/c fan running.?

It connects to the OBD2. It is a friends that I have used once before.

I have one fan. It is a front mounted fan.

I just figured out what was going on. The wire I have connected to the 1G sensor has a red wire and a red wire with yellow stripe. It's the damn BCS wire! :ohdamn:

I found the correct coolant temp sensor plug. It's yellow and has a black wire and a black wire with white stripe.
