I took my engine out a while ago to do some work on it. I wasn't planning on rebuilding it until I popped the rod caps off to put some assembly lube on the bearings and found all my bearings were shot. I am just planning on replacing the bearings, but one of the rods seems too tight at the wrist pin. How tight should I expect this to be? I don't have the head off, and I don't really want to have to take it off if I don't have to.

Normally with the rod/piston out of the block, you should be able to grab the big end of the rod and sort of shake it back and forth and the piston should smoothly move.

With it in the block, push the rod to one side of the bore, when you let go, it should swing and then center. if it does not... it is too stiff.

The piston should move freely on the wrist pin. If its not, you definitely need a new pin or at the very least the pin bushing. Pm me if you need a rod-piston combo as i just pulled mine and dropped in a new engine

Beat me to it ^^ ;)
