Does anyone know an easy way to remove/install a wrist pin. i had to buy a new rod and instead of sendin it out was wantin to just do it myself if i can.

Stock Pistons/rods or aftermarket?

Stock ones will need to be heated and pressed out..

Aftermarket should have come with C-Clips...
*Install the 1st C-Clip to one end of the piston,
*Lube up the wrist pin and slide it through the piston/rod
*Install the C-Clip into the other end to lock it into place..

C-Clips are very tricky and take a while to do if its your 1st time... try not to use objects like flatheads since they will scratch the surface easily ;)...

no mine are stock i threw a rod bearing and it ate up one of my stock rods so i just ordered a new one off ebay and now im tryin to get everything buttoned back up. Is there anyway i could do it at home or is it definately somethin i gotta send out for?

ok that i can work with. I just been gettin screwed around by some machine shops lately on gettin my head back so im kind of reluctant to keep sendin it out if i can do it myself.

awesome that helped alot im gonna check around town and see what i cant find as far as someone with a press. and if not i can probably handle it with just a propane torch.

You're not going to get the old one out with just a torch, you need to press it out. The install is just like the vid. If you already dont have the tools take it to a shop. I know of about 10 machine shops in my area and the most expensive is $17.

I highly recomend taking it to a shop, I pressed mine out myself and shattered two pistons, cracked one, and badly marred the last. No biggie since I had new pistons.

A local shop wil press them out for 10 bucks and put the new ones in for 10 bucks. But putting them in you can do yourself.

I did mine on my stove at home, sat it the rod on the flame for 5 mins, and the pins slid right in.

Good luck!

hey i made my own press from an old c clamp welded a nut on the handle end to turn with an impact gun, and a rod on the inside end a shade smaller than the wristpin and heated up the connecting rod for a couple minutes then press the pin right through... was a cheap and easy build that saves a lot of work and a bit of money in the long run!
