Would not using wear indicator cause brake pad to rattle around?

Just put new pads on rear brakes and left off the wear indicator and now have rattling sound when driving down the road but not while braking. Are the wear indicator clips important for keeping that pad in there snugly so it doesn't rattle around? If so, where can I get those because they didn't come with my new pads and autozone doesn't list them as being sold separately and I don't have the old one to reuse.

Rattle clips whenever i bought pads they were all ready to go, slap them in and that was it, maybe something else is rattling. Mine just set them in place, never added a rattle clip.

Did you use "anti-squeel" on the pad backing? or just go in dry?

First thing you did was go to the zone.. they are good for oil and battires IMHO

Yeah i did leave those clips off so after getting them on there's no problem now. They have a little spring type metal thing on them that keeps the pad in place. I only used 1 clip for each pad and wasn't sure if you're supposed to use 2 clips for each pad..?

You were right, only one clip per pad.

Just looked in the factory service manual and you're supposed to use one of those metal clips with spring type thing on the bottom end of each pad and on the top the other type that doesn't have those spring things. All those clips were included in the set I got from local auto parts store for 10 bux but I left off the top ones after they kept falling off when trying to get the caliper back on. Oh well, everything seems good enough so I'm not going to worry about it.
