Would anyone be interested in a carbon fiber turbo spoiler?

ok noones heard crap since april or so .whatsup with this spoiler project, time to say yay or nay.its been long enough im sure you guys have an idea whats up.so let us know.

I'd been dropping in on GSXTCY's page every so often to see if there was an update regarding the spoiler, and didn't see anything, so I assumed this was dead.

But, at $700-800, it might as well be. That's far outside the range I'm willing to pay for a cosmetic item at this point. As a point of comparison, Squidskins appear to be selling an entire CF hatch assembly for a 95-98 Talon for $800 (Canadian), and full hoods fall into the $300-400 range these days, so I'm having a hard time seeing where that price came from.

Ah well, sounded like a cool idea at the time.

id still take it at 800 bux,to have somethin everyone will envy hell yeah.plus i make 42000 a year so whats 800?

It all depends. What grade of carbon? How many layers? What's the weave? What kind of resin? I assume it's not pre-preg.

i seriously doubt it would cost 800 bucks unless its made out of solid carbon fiber, which would be a waste considering its just a stock cosmetic wing, i was talking to this guy i know that does body work, hes built carbon bodies for race carts before and said that laying a sheet of carbon fiber over a turbo spoiler wouldnt be that hard to do, u can get a 10 by 2 sheet of carbon fiber with resin for a few hundred bucks, thats enough to do at least 3 wings, if u know someone who can lay the carbon fiber and make it look good covering the wing and following its shape ur good to go, u only really need a single sheet over the wing, its just a cosmetic wing that doesnt really offer any downforce, after laying the gel coat u wolnt be able to tell the difference between it and a solid carbon fiber wing

im seriously thinking about covering my roof in carbon fiber when i get my car repainted, instead of the black roof, the guy that painted my friends 2g said that with the shape of my roof he could do it if the whole car got repainted to match up with the carbon and hold it down at the edges, he also said he can cover the flared bottom of a cyber front bumper on my friends 2g, he needs a new one cause the first one is cracked, he said if we had got the carbon before bringing him the car when he painted it the first time he could have covered the bumper without taking an extra day

...more than likely that is because of tooling and molding costs. Definitely they wouldn't just laminate over a stock spoiler and I am sure it is solid carbon fiber...maybe a foam core or honeycomb, which would be standard in most carbon fiber spoilers. And you can be positive that it will have to be constructed in a multi-piece mold and that means $$$. If you think about the squidskin hatch it is really not that much carbon fiber at all really. Damn nice though.
When i saw that it was going to be around 200 I just couldn't see it happening. Just for the lip it is 200 which is great!! Point is I can see where it would cost that much for a carbon fiber spoiler made to look like a stock turbo spoiler. Would I pay that much? Well I did spend close to 600 for a JGTC style spoiler. Alot of money for something ALREADY in production.

and will it be Autobahn safe(dont want to loose the Hood at 220KM/H)

Looks like it's a no go..... I woulda bought it casue my car has a wacky paint job..... If I were to get a regular 2g spoiler I could never get it to match my cars paint..... so CF would be perfect!!
