anyone else excited about the OBD1 law in new york effective in january? lucked out with my car being a 95... no more inspection issues for us with 1995 or earlier cars

Emissions? What's that? =) Visual inspection for me too. Last time they asked me if I had a cat.

effective in January they changed the emissions law to 15 years old instead of the current 25 years old... If you look on your NYS inspection sticker it should say Saftey/Emissions... whereas when this comes into effect it will just say saftey

So your telling me next year my car won't have to pass emissions?

Nevada is somewhere in the middle..

OBD-II does an ECU check/scan via the OBD-II port.
pre OBD-II vehicles do a sniffer test

must be new in your county. i live in Dutchess county and we have not had to do any testing for anything older than 96 since like 2006 even then they just do the obd port no sniffer test

i wish it was the same here in cali =( you can't do anything to modify your car at all. but we still do

I dont remeber any emmisions test in cattaragus county, or wyoming county just the 95 and newer. all my vehicles i had inspeceted ever never messed with me for now cat's and i have had my fair share of vic's. but this is still cool for the newer cars but i dont see n.y.s just dropping it off the face of the planet i'm sure there is a catch probly decible level, no cat equals louder car !!! n.y.s troopers they aint the nicest with us and our 4 bangers!

Lucky us californians have super strict inspections policies. Lucky my dsm has wyoming plates with no inspections required.
