Wont start, feels like starter reverses

Ok, so I just did a head gasket job, and installed my new head from SIM. Anywho, I put everything on, including a SMIM I had laying around. Hooked up everything correctly I do believe, I even labeled everything. Well, since the SMIM install, I had to relocate my coil pack, and as a temp fix to see if the car would start, I extended the wires to the coil pack (Yes they are correct), and I saw it on top of my power steering reservoir, and ran 2 4 gauge ground wires grounding the chassis of the coil pack that it mounts to, to my strut tower bar. Also when I took my cam gears off, when I put them back on, the dowls point up, and when I cranked it to be sure it was on time, the lines on the cams aligned perfectly. Also when starting, it feels like the starter cranks, then feels like it reverses itself. Any idea's what could be up?

What do you mean it feels like it reverses itself? Like the starter physically tries to turn in the other direction?

Hmm. I wonder if you have the plug wires crossed, or i wonder if your starter is dying. I have had a bad starter that worked fine for a few weeks, then you would crank for about 2 seconds perfect then sound like it was trying to eat every tooth of the the flywheel. Hope you get it fixed man, good luck

Ok, so I got it to start, my plug wires were reversed, as my spare coil pack was wired for a 97-99. But it only runs on cylinders 2&3. When I unplug 1&4 it changes nothing. My coil pack has signal to both coils, and has power but refuses to send spark to my plugs. I changed coil packs, same thing, and changed the power transistor, and still same thing. What else am I missing?

By power transistor, do you mean the ignition module? Also, pull the other two plugs and check for fouling. If they're wet from fuel, oil, or antifreeze, they won't fire. If you see anything but fuel on them, you may have something not quite right or seated from the head gasket job...

Yes that module, and the plugs dont even fire when I take them out, and ground them. They refuse to spark. Could it be my cam position sensor? I did replace it with another one as I broke my old one taking it out. But why would ito nly cause only 2 cylinders to fire and not the other 2?

Replaced cam sensor, and still same issue. . .

Did you try checking the wires? I kinda doubt you would have 2 wires die on you at the same time, its a dsm, it could happen.

Sorry, I found and solved this issue. When doing my wire tuck, I cut off the random connectors laying around, solenoid connectors basically. Well by the firewall above the fuel filter, there was a blue connector, that looked like an ordinary connector, well I was wrong. It actually "looped" two wires together to complete a circuit. And those wires went from the power transistor to the coil pack. I connected those two wires back together and it works perfectly. Who would have known LOL.

Do you have any photos of the connectors and location? I am currently going through a similar issue with only 2 cylinders of spark. I just did a full 6 bolt swap and have had to replace every part of the starting and ignition system. At this point I'm getting very frustrated very quickly.
