hi i just joined forums. just sold my 95 talon esi for a 95 eclipse gst. big difference. okay i let it warm up before i take it out, i go through first normal shift to second and mash it. when i hit boost it screems till about 55-6000rpms than it just gives out and the whole car shakes like when you clutch and miss a shift. i have no idea why. only thing i do know is my bov line that goes to my intake manifold is shared with my manuall boost controler and needs to be rerouted to have its own line. but not sure thats the problem any solutions??

Ecu is behind the stereo LOL I belive that is the airbag module, the ecu is a goldish box bolted behind the stereo pull off the side kick panel under the vents. narrow band gauge that shows rich lean replace that with wideband, and can get a full engine bay pic?

If you can't afford data logging equipment, then don't mod your car.

1. Boost gauge
2. Wideband
3. Tuning solution

Three first most important mods that should be done.
I say this because I did it the wrong way the first time, just trying to save you the headache.

Park the car and start saving man. If it's easier go to the junk yard and buy some 450's off another eclipse and run stock boost. But before you do any of that I would do as CDC suggested and pull the ECU to see if it's infact an EPROM if that's the case perhaps there is a tune already in place if you bought the car modded.

$200 now or two other options.... the first would be rebuilding the motor... about two grand if there isnt too much damage. Or, you can sell the car for next to nothing with a blown motor when you cant afford to fix it after you blow it up. Im sure $200 doesnt sound too bad after laying out the grand scheme of what can and will/has happened to others...

Wow all the crazy responses. Yes it's untuned but 560's are not going to kill the car. I'd suggest what someone else suggested and seeing if it doesn't have piggyback tune already. Get a boost gauge and controller, turn that boost down and you'll be ok, you'll just be running richer.

I wouldn't suggest keeping the car the way it is but I wouldn't dump $500 on ECMlink either, especially for just 560's.. SAFC tuning will do the trick. Hell even a couple of gallons of ethanol mixed with 93 pump will lean it out a bit.

First and foremost, RESEARCH! Research as much as possible and know what you are doing when it comes to turbo cars and messing with them. Good luck!

Did you research what this thread is about? Hes running 24 psi with everything except a wideband/tune... and it cuts out at 6k.... hmmm.... yup just go throw some e85 in it to lean it out boss.... thats the cure all for everyones problems.

The op also brought up buying ecm link himself. We just suggested the wideband first.

Thank yeah I'm getting a wideband today

Than what should I do next

Good choice brotha! Save yourself an engine haha. Least you'll know if your running lean/rich now. Start saving for dsmlink, or if your really on a budget SAFC. :thumb:

yeah getting the wideband today and hopefully a SAFC too. i have these gauges now. not the best LOL

Same boot gauge as me haha. I believe that lower one is a narrowband right? Also, open up the ECU and take sme pictures of it.

its non eprom stock. but yes its a narrowband. so...nooby but do i still need a wideband than? LOL

yeah its a narrowband. sounds nooby but so i still need a wideband? haha and it is not an eprom. still i was told it was tuned at a shop in illinois.

LOL...^ didnt think it posted the first time..haha

Haha both on a learning curve brotha. From what I've read a narrow band reads what the ECU thinks seeing, and not what actually is going on. Take pictures of the inside of the ECU so we can see if its Got something to tune on.

So yes you still need a wideband haha

alright cool man, i know lot of shit to do LOL. whats all done to yours. and i will have a pic of the inside of it on here at about 4:00pm. its 12:28pm where im at now

A narrow band gauge is junk. It tells you almost zero useful information. To properly tune a car you need a wideband O2 sensor and a wideband guage. A wideband will tell you precisely what your air/fuel ratio is. A narrow band can only detect lean/rich/stoichiometric and had ZERO use in tuning.

If you don't have an AFC, than you do not have a tune. Unless under that cover is an EPROM ecu. But I doubt there is.

yeah thats what i was thinking, but it does look like the ecu was played with

will be installing wideband and safc soon as i can! and wont be driving it untill i do!

and what all do i need to do in order to run e85?

You're quite a ways from running e85. You will need, at the very least, ecmlink, or a flash able ecu, to control fuel and timing, and to compensate for the bigger injectors you'll need in order to run e. That's all hardware, then you need some experience tuning, or some dinero to get it tuned on it

damn lot farther than i thought

my buddy has a performance shop and says he can set me up for E85 but will cost me about
$1500. is that a decent price?

also everyones telling me since i have 560 injectors and nothing to tune them im just dupming fuel...but i get an average of 31.5 mpg...possible?

That really depends on what your goal is. Baby steps man. Baby steps. Get you chickens in order before decide on fuel upgrades. Get the car running first, and do ALL the maintenance. Once you get that far, then you can decide what your goal is, then you can piece together your fuel system. $1,500 to convert to E-85 seems steep to me. If you do it yourself you can get a decent high flow setup for less than $1,000 (not including a tuning solution) Also, if you want to go to e-85, you'll want a better tuning solution than an AFC. Remember e-85 has 35% less energy than pump gas, so you need significantly larger fuel injectors and I would say nothing less than a 255LPH pump. Plus bigger fuel lines.

yeah for sure now that i look at it that way. but back to my other Q. if im untuned how can i get suck good mpg with 560 injectors?(untuned)

I have no clue. Open up the ECU to find out if it's an EPROM. If it's an EPROM, it could have been tuned. As for the 560s, we have no idea if you actually have them. We can't see under your hood. However, if you have 560s with NO tuning solution, you will be running rich. 560s are 20% larger than stock.
