Resolved Wiring wiseman needed

Hi, I'm in the process of "ruining" my oem harness and replacing it with an ohm racing harness. My ecu will be a haltech with the ic7 dash, so my stock gauges are being removed. I have been depinning and removing wires I do not need.

I am stuck with this wire though, it runs from the back of the oem gauges to the far right plug behind the center consol. The ohm harness only had 3 wires so I depinned the rest - however this red wire has me stumped. Any idea what this plug controls?

Dusty, thank you! This is a 1999 model which is turning into a nightmare. You seem to be the man when it comes to wiring, can you point me I'm the right direction as to where I can find this information so I don't need to post every connector which gives me an issue?

The search is not working for me.

Also I think this is only coolant temp for the gauge, which is not being used, so safe to say I can remove?

Yeah of course dude! Always here to help. I started at meter and gauges in the electrical manual, which is page 20 (204 in acrobat) and worked my way to see if R/Y was there. Found Coolant temp on next page and then went to system cooling to confirm earlier in the manual. THEN I rang out my own spare harness here to 100% confirm so I didn't lead you astray.

As far as removal, yeah if you are not using the sensor at the housing then you can definitely de-pin and remove it. Otherwise it may help to just have something quick to look down at during hot days etc.

Dusty. In your experience are any of the dash cluster wires needed to run the ecu? Since the haltech has its own display I was going to remove the stock wiring, but now that I'm knee deep into it I'm starting to get nervous (thankfully I have a spare dash in case I do too much damage...)

If the wires are only for the display I don't care if they are gone, however if they work with the ecu then it might be an issue.

So from my understanding, all the dash cluster wires are strictly "info" for the driver. The haltech is going to have its own inputs from either the existing ecu connections/wires or you can always just pick up all the cluster wires down where they connect behind the radio area. Since the haltech display also has its own harness ran to the haltech ecu, you would not be using anything behind the cluster anyway. Instead of de-pinning and worry about messing the oem harnesses up, you could always just remove them completely. It may be hard to do though without the dash removed but still possible.

Thank you, my dash is out right now so since none of that is for anything other than info I might just remove. I was only afraid the dash wires were tied into tue ecu somewhere, you made me feel much better thank you! I might have to dm you from time to time if you don't mind.
