Wiring Question

Okay so everything on my car was pretty much F***ed up by the previous owner. motor, trans, wiring, ect. But i was extremely new to these cars when i bought it. It had a clean body, the motor started up when i went to look at, and it was really cheap so i bought it. But anyways this guy before me hacked up the whole wiring harness and pretty much every wire in the car.

My question as to do with the two prongs that are below where the thermostat is on the car( sorry for the bad terminology but i have no idea what its called). I know there should be a connector there, but that is long gone. My question is since the connector is not there, which color wire goes to which prong. I have posted a pic below, the area circled is what i am talking about.

i dont remember where the hell that wire comes from but i should since i just put a new head on my car and had to re-conect all the wires! I'll check when i get off work in a few hours.

okay awesome thank you. I looked at it and i think it may be a green and a yellow wire? Im not sure which prong each goes to since i dont have the actual connector anymore.

That's the coolant temp sensor. Don't have the car handy to check the wires.

Yeah, it's the coolant temp sensor. It's right under the thermostat housing. Is the car running fine without it being plugged in?

No i dont have it running yet. Im Still working on getting the motor back in. This is just one of the many surprises i've run into.

i think the wires are orange and brown(maybe yellow) someone correct me if they know different.

There aren't any wires in the area that fit that description. There is a yellow with a green strip and then the second is an all green one. Maybe mine are different for some reason. Thank you for checking tho.

Thank you for all the help i appreciate it. I still can't figure it out. If anyone has an idea to which prong each wire goes to feel free to chime in. I could really use some help with this one.

While there is a "correct" way those two connectors attach as shown in the wiring diagrams it shouldn't matter functionally.
