after i installed my new cd player, my overhead light's dont work and now my locks arent working right either.. did i blow a fuse or did i not hook something up right? i left some of the wire's unhooked because i couldnt find out what the hell they were to and my cd player was workin so i didnt care.. altho its only hooked up to the ignition and not a 12v source.. which wire is the one going to the battery? and how can i fix my locks and my overhead light's in the cab? im gonna go out and tear apart my dash again and get to all the wiring, so if someone has some info for me please let me know, it would be greatly appriated :thumb:

oh and i've gotten diagrams offline and they werent any help.. so someone who's done the same as me would be lots of help :D

If i was in your situation and I wasn't exactly sure where the problem could be by simple searching around, I would go to a place that does car security systems, etc. and have them test your wiring. They might be able to pin point the area of problem. They may or may not charge you, but I wouldn't want to start foolin around too much because for me i have billions of wires from a security system, neons, sound equipment, etc. and i don't want to cause more problems for myself.

Its really just up to you :talon:

that's the thing, i cant afford to have anyone charge me at the moment so i cant.. everything else works fine, and my locks were workin normaly for a while so i dont think i caused that problem... but my overhead light's wouldnt work after i installed it.. im gonna go fiddle now since i wormed my way out of schluping people around :D

I'll bet you've blown your "room" fuse (I'm pretty sure thats the name of the fuse in the box)

The best thing you can do right now is remove the negative wire on your battery, and use this diagram to help you install eveything
http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Mitsubishi/Eclipse.html

I used that for my install, there is an error on it, for my car anyways. Their is no pair of black with black stripe wires like the diagram says. When you see that you're prolly looking for the pair of black with red stripe wires.

Your 12V battery wire the re RED with BLACK wire, (don't confuse it with one of your black with red wire speaker wires)
Your ingition wire is the blue one.
All this info is in that pdf in the link I gave you.

i used that exact diagram to wire it, i said screw it and made a new battery connection because the red with black stripe was not the 12v constant that i needed, and routed it thru the car..

Thats weird, I didn't have any problems with my 12 volt constant. You went Red w/ black to yellow right?
Did your car have a black w/black wire they speak of?

yep i went red with black to yellow, didnt work.. i didnt see any black with black, but i may have overlooked it... wish i could get my overhead light's to work tho :thumbdown

why not jsut use a harness adapter?

Go thru all these issues to save 7 dollars seems a little nuts to me. But that is jsut my opinion.

What happened when you hooked the OEM radio back up... did everything start working again to confirm that it is not incidental?

too late to hook the oem radio back up, i cut the harness and installed my cd player, i dont really care or mind working on my car, when im bored i look for things to do on it to kill time, im gonna check the fuse's in a bit tho, i havent checked them yet, been a bit busy
