Does anyone know where a good place would be to get the factory wiring harness for the stock stereo?? I'm talking about the harness that plugs directly into the back of the OEM stereo. Mine was clipped by the previous owner and as much as i swap decks, hard wiring it to the factory wires isn't going to be practical. Does anyone know if there is a universal harness that i could hardwire into my car and then buy the female end to match for my aftermarket deck?

I've called the local Mitsu dealer and they only sell the entire harness as a whole unit, not just the stereo portion. I've also called all the junkyards around here and none of them carry any eclipse's, lasers, talons, galants, or sebrings (I hate this town).

Would an avenger, or seibring have the same wire harness?
Maybe try looking into that.

Check eBay for the "car" half of the harness. Or, any stereo shop in your area will probably have them.
You should never use crimp connectors, even though they work just fine and every last connector in your car is crimped by the factory. It just makes the stereo geeks fussy to hear about them.
When you put in a new radio, get the other half of the adapter. Same sources.

Yea, that's what I was trying to say (even though i didn't mention Avengers)... it seems that this town doesn't carry any late model cars in their junkyards.

As for as what you're referring to, i'm totally lost. I have called the stereo shop to see if they knew of a place that would carry something like that, but when it comes to OEM equipment, that's out of their field. From their standpoint, they'd just wire it up without the plug. AND... i've already got the "other half of the adapter" for the deck I've got (I used to have a 420A eclipse before the GSX). That's why i really want the OEM plug.

Yeh. Find a shop that has a clue. If they have the one half, their same supplier will have the other half of the set. Or, contact any of the online stereo outfits, and they'll be able to fix you up.

Which is how your car got fcuked up in the first place, and what got you to this point. Goddamned cowboy, don't-give-a-shit installers.

If you have the package, that manufacturer will make the other half.
Or, take the plug you have with you and assault any Mitsubishi and many Chrysler products from a similar production date at the junkyard and clip out their harness plug that matches. KIA, Hyundai, Subaru and god knows what all else will use the same plug.

I don't have the package, but finding out who makes those won't be a problem. You make a good point, that if they make the female adapter for the aftermarket decks, then they should most definitely make the male "OEM" adapter as well.

I'll try this, because locating a DSM or any of it's brothers and sisters around here is like trying to stop the hands on a clock to save time... it ain't gonna happen!!

You're looking for a mitsubishi reverse harness and regular harness. Both can be found at your local stereo shop, Best Buy, Circuit City, Tweeter, etc. Even walmart/autozone/pepboys/o'rileys sometimes has the regular harnesses. Do you have the factory Infinity premium sound system? Sometimes it can make swaping decks a little fussy. If you hit up a junkyard, almost any mitusbishi will have the same plug as long as it's around the same year. The Avenger won't work, it has a chrysler/dodge harness.

I heard from someone else on this forum that if you look hard enough, you'll find it. I found somebody on ebay that said he'd clip the factory harness from is 95 Talon TSI and ship it to me for $9.

...I paypal'd him instantaniously.

Avenger/Sebring stereo ARE DIFFERENT. So I'd asume the harness would be differen't... Well a differen't plug that is. Dodges high end stereo's were also infinity, but a totaly different kind.

If you paid shipping, I could send you a long OEM Harness for your car... I'm going to U Pull it saturday to pull a head from a Talon, I can grab it for you if you want... No charge, just pay shipping...PM me if interested.
