Howdy All,

I'm going to be doing the clutch wire mod to take advantage of NLTS in my chip. I was wondering if someone could tell me the correct type and gauge of wire to buy (from a local Radio Shack).

Thanks in advance,

Andy

I just used some 14 gauge black wire i had laying around, probably, 16 gauge would work fine too. Then, i soldered in the resistor and it was done. Works perfect. Just need to put the new clutch and fywheel in. :thumb:

Thanks for the help and the quick answer Jeff.

Cheers,

Andy

Andy, the wire that came w/ my DSMLink for the clutch mod was very small. My quess would be 20-22 guage. Infact 14, or 18 is overkill by far but go ahead and use it if that's all that is available. Also my friends TMO chip came w/ very small dia. wire too.

Dan,

I just tried some 18 gauge wire and it didn't work. All told, this is the third time I've tried to get this mod to work and I've had it with trying. So much for NLTS and stutterbox launching. As a matter of fact, I think I'm done trying to make this thing go any faster.

Off to find another hobby,

Andy

Don't give up, I have studder without needing the clutch in to start my car. Where were you tapping in your wires? Take pix!

I tapped in by cutting the lower clutch wire (green) and running a wire from there to pin 91 on the ECU. I had no need for the clutch safety to be operational and Jeff from DSM Chips told me a straight wire would work. This is the third time I've pulled the seat and torn my back to pieces trying to get this up and running and believe me, the 5 hundredths I'd save on the line just isn't worth it (I cut 1.70's now without a stutterbox). I just know when it's time to say enough.

Thanks again for the help guys,

Andy

Andy, have you ever thought that the problem may not be the clutch wire, or the way your installing it? I hooked up mine and it too did not work. I re-looked the wires several times, not finding anything wrong. Finally, I read into codes the car was throwing and to my surprise, it was throwing a code for "vehicle speed sensor". Its located in the guage clusters of 1G's, and on the side of the tranny for 2G's. Turns out it was busted and it was cousing my NLTS, my studderbox, and antilag features to not work.

Hope that may help!

Dan,

I've known my speed sensor has been bad for a while. While the tach and speedo work, Jeff was hoping to be able to get around this by having me use NLTS on the line by rigging it with the clutch wire. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and have it replaced. It's plugged in, but the gear in the tranny could be stripped.

Thanks for the input pal!

Andy
