My External Wastegate fried my main harness. Last night I was racing a 300z, in which in the middle of the race my headlights cut out and my dash lights. I proceed to open my hood, and my manifold is bright red. Anyway, i checked the fuses, and my headlight, tail light and blinker fuses were fried, not to mention my harness by the radiator. i replaced all the fuses, turned my car on and my dash started to smoke inside where my gauge bezel is. Could the whole harness be shorted? or can i just tape up the wires and replace the ones that are fried?

you *could* just replace the ones that are toasted...but why screw with it...replace the entire harness then you know it's all back in good working order.

Easier said than done :) I've been through a similar situation with a large section of wiring harness melting itself together. In my case it was a 6 foot long section, but most wires were not badly damaged. I only actually had to replace one wire.

Take a look at it before you decide. If you melted the whole thing into one ball of copper, you may want a whole new harness. If it's just a few wires melted together, then perhaps you can repair it.

if a wire is shorted, does it mean that it is shorted throughout the whole wire? or do i just need to replace the casing around the copper
