Winter Tires

Right now im basically running all season goodyears on my 95 GS, and i live on Long Island which if anyone knows tends to have some bad snowfalls but can also have dry roads for good periods of time. i am right now looking at the Blizzak LM series or WS 50s and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. i really want a tire i can drive on somewhat dry pavement and feel safe with during snow and ice. (without losing alot of tread and giving up too much handling for it)

I've had good experience with Michelin Alpin winter tires on a rwd BMW. I swap them out the beginning of November and take them off the car the end of March. So far they have gone 2 seasons and have significantly more than half the tread on all 4. A big of handling is compromised, but is justified by superior ice/snow traction. They rated about the same as the Blizzaks.

I have blizzaks and they are great. I've already commented on this in another post, but I really recommend them. They're great on snow and dry pavement. They're designed to drive on icy roads and dry roads too. Don't drive them on hot roads in the summer, but it's perfectly fine to drive them on dry roads in the winter.

Blizzaks are the best for the money in my opinion. Had them on my 95 GST and was very pleased with the traction they got. Would recommend them to anyone. Back when I living in Iowa that is.

anyone know which model blizzak are the ones they are using. ive heard that the WS 50 is alot better in snow, but the LM 22s have good handling but alot of people say the LMs arent worth it because they dont perform in the winter. Personally i am leaning toward the 50s. any opinions?

I have the WS50's on my 95 GST and love them. I ran them too long into spring/summer though and the wear was horrendous. If you do much highway/ long distance traveling you will not want to run them. I live right in the mountains of Colorado and have had nothing but good experiences with them. Highly recommended.
