Im going to do some roof resto and im not sure how this molding comes off... i did search some and not much info that I found. Anyone have a procedure that will prevent mr from breaking valuable parts?

The only way you can get that off is by removing your windshield and it is glued on. I had a window company come and remove mine and they broke the windshield in the process unfortunately. I tried salvaging the molding but it just didn’t work out. It’s discontinued now and I’m sure if you went to a parts store you could find something similar. Safelite used a universal one on mine not what I wanted for looks but it’s functional.

Well thats a bummer.... guess i will work around it

You can use some trim masking tape. It is use for that, goes under the molding and fold back to expose the underside when you have to paint under.
In my case, on my 1g, the rubber molding was barely glued. I was able to slide it out by the side without damaging it. There is a "U" shape that goes on the glass.
If you need pic, i can grap you one. As for the install, i have to change my cracked windshield. I'll put it back at this time.
