Alright guys I'm in the middle of my build and I jut have acquired the funds to finish this thing off! Just want to run it by some of you guys before I decide to actually finish it! I will have to daily drive the car for about 2-3 months until I can afford to fix my bike that suffered from a rod knock! So my question is will my car be fine within the 2-3 months that I daily it? I know a lot of it is in the tune but I will be running the following setup! I also do not drive like a maniac!

Stock 2g head 6 bolt short block
.20 over ross racing pistons 8:3.1
Eagle rods w/ ARP suds
ARP head studs
Kiggly Crank Trigger Sensor
Stock 2g head with oil port mods done
Greddy 18g turbo (Freshly rebuilt)
GM MAF
DSMLINK V3 Full w/ GM MAF Cable
autometer boost/vac gauge
AEM UEGO Wideband
XTD Stage 4 Clutch kit
PTE 880cc injectors
Walbro 255
Aftermarket FPR (most likely aeromotive)

Looks fine to me. However, I would just skip the GM Maf, and just go straight to speed density. IMO, IDK why anyone would go back to a maf again :/

I never thought of going with SD! I just think for now and how this is my first ever build! I would just stick with the GM MAF just because SD seems like it will take a little bit more time and $. Of course I'll consider it once I get a little more experienced! Thanks for the help!

Alright guys! I've basically hit a small wall! Since I live in central Cali and dont really know anyone here that can tune using DSMLINK I will either have to do a countless amount of research and attempt it myself! Or someway get my car to San Jose to have a friend tune it for me! The thing about that is I cant afford for the car to be towed up there! I really dont want to chance it by driving the car up there on just a stock ECU with stock injectors and fuel pump! What would you guys suggest????

its not that hard to get a driveable tune. and tune for your mods.

Now tuning for maximum power is the hard part.

There are also "remote tuners" on here in the freelance section. they have pretty good feedback for their work.

Where are you at on the central coast? Extreme Auto works in SLO would be able to tune for u with the link!

I'm in Fresno! I have a buddy that lives in San Jose that will be able to tune my car, but idk if it would be safe to drive the car all the way up there on stock injectors and fuel pump with just the stock ecu! I'm currently also looking into getting a trailer to possibly tow the car up there!! I wish we just had people here that could tune :ohdamn:

With stock injectors, stock fuel pump, and stock boost, and stock MAF you will be just fine driving the car. That's what the ECU is programmed for. The ECU doesn't care if you have upgraded internals.

But I would seriously suggest that you learn to tune the car yourself. Like mentioned earlier, getting the car to be safe yet powerful isn't hard. Tuning for maximum power is best left to the pro's, but everything else can be done yourself. Otherwise, every time you upgrade something (and you will, a DSM is never done being built), you will have to drive the car to BFE just to have someone tinker on your computer. That's something you could easily do yourself.

trailer it better to be safe then sorry

i heard the was a pretty decent size group of dsmer's in freso, not sure. no one around the area knows how to tune?!

Yeah! I wish someone would step up and let me know! Or better yet a shop that could tune it for me! DSMers have little support in Fresno! :notgood:

Great advise!!! I'm trying to pick up as much stuff as possible!!!

While I agree SD is the way to go... . And GM maf's are far from what is Ideal anymore.

Whether the car is going to be tuned by themselves (depending on their background) or a Shop is a big factor in whether people IMHO should recommend SD as it's a Lot more involved then running a Maf. Even more so on a fresh build. As great UI some programs have None tune them self like a lot of people get the imprestion sometimes it seems.

The commet above that is quoted has IMO a few things that are as far from the Truth I can think of there are a TON of factors to consider in those regards... . But that just my opinion :)

I just stumbled on your remote tuning thread! I actually might consider this!!! If the price is right! Its just so much information to learn with the small time frame that I have right now!! Just seems like the best option I have right now!!! I dont really have the funds to tow my car to nor & so cal I wont be able to reach its peak with doing it myself! You remote tuning service is my best option as of right now!
