Will running open filter hurt my car?

So basically I got bored tonight, and decided to take the stock filter out of my car, then I removed the bottom portion of the air box. I ran the car and everything is fine, the turbo spools SO much louder and the stock BOV kinda sounds like a quieter HKS

BUT! Question is...by doing this am I going to hurt my car? I noticed a boost increase, but I couldnt tell you how much since I dont have an aftermarket boost gauge yet. Should be getting one this week. Im getting a full intake this week also so I figured id run open filter til I got it, but if you guys think its gonna #### something up then ill put everything back on first thing tomorrow.

No it will not damage anything,in fact, it is considered a free mod. Just make sure your filter has no holes on it.

I took the filter out of the air box and removed the bottom portion of the box completely...theres no filter in there at all...

All thats in there is the stock intake, maf, and top portion of the air box just sitting in there all connected. I cant see it hurting anything but I just wanna make sure because it sounds badass! haha. Also, any explanation for the increase in boost? Does an intake increase stock boost levels at all? I wont find out how much im running til I install my gauge.

Take off the airbox completly, but leave the air filter on, unless you want a nice little rock going thru your turbo. As for increase in boost, it sound better, and you are also getting more air without those restricions, but I doubt it's a big increase. My car sounds bad ass, the bov sounds louder, andthe turbo spool sounds awesome, but you deff want a filer on.

Well I dont have the MAF adapter to put on the K&N I just bought, Im waiting for my ebay intake to come in the mail. All Im using from that is the actual intake pipe, and MAF adapter. I might just put it on for a couple days til I get the actual intake, dont wanna risk messing something up.

Consider building yourself a partition for the new intake to keep hot engine bay air from being sucked in as much as possible. Lower IAT = better. Running it with just a filter clamped to the MAS isn't going to hurt anything though.

He is saying he has NO filter, basically the start of his intake is his mas...op I suggest if your going to run dirty dusty air through your motor at least put a mesh screen on to keep debris out...

Remove your Boost Controler Solenoid too. And plleeeeease put the filter back on until you get the intake

As Dert replied, "at least put a mesh screen on". DD you want a filter to keep nasties out of the compressor wheel which can potentially damage it. Have you ever looked at an air filter before after doing some driving? They get dirty.

All that dirt that makes it past the turbo and IC is getting to the engine which isn't good. If you have any blow-by, the dirt particles *could* get into your oil and cause more problems. But that's a long shot though.

You really should just run no filter at the track if you needed to.

I ordered an NGR Type S BOV, Dejon UICP, Ebay Intake, and Glowshift Gauges all last Thursday. I have yet to receive any emails with tracking numbers and so on... Anyone have any experience with any of those sellers? How were they on shipment/contacting?

Well the NGR BOV is from NGR Performance, the Dejon pipe is from DejonPowerhouse...and Im not worried about the intake too much as its ebay...Im just wondering how NGR & Dejon are with shipping etc ect..

Well it turns out Dejon is in the process of moving and wont be shipping orders until the 16th. Isnt that a slap in the face! Im gonna get the NGR this week hopefully and not even be able to put it on! Is there any way I can mod the stock IC pipe to make a Greddy Flanged BOV fit?

Im not sure there is a NGR flange but all of the other ones are available onn ebay so try there
