would duals hurt my car?

so im debating on putting duals on my 1997 eclipse rs i know its not true duals but i dont really care would it hurt my car if i did?

I knew what you meant, just trying to help you get help. Anyway its not really dual but dual tip. It's really up to you and how you like the look. It wouldn't really hurt the performance unless you went to big since your n/a. I personally like the single exhaust tip on the drivers side. If you did dual tips would there be a place on the passenger side for the tip to stick out, if not i think that would throw things off between the side that has the tip passage and the side that doesn't. Make sense

yah i love the look but yah we are just going to cut outanother outlet for the tip so it can stick i mean my mechanic is pretty much doing this for free for me. it cant be that hard to cut a outlet out and thats what i meant dual tip

So dual tip on one side only? It's a good look honestly and the way I have mine. I like it better than my old apexi 4" tip fart can.

Haha I don't know seems like it would add alot of unneeded weight and no performance gain. Your car your call bro. And I loved my apexi exhaust till the insulation came out, then it sounded like a raspy fart can exhaust. Other than that I had mine on my car for like 7-8 years with no issues at all. I replaced with a custom 3" exhaust from turbo back and am using a vibrant muffler now and I love the deep sound.

i know exactly what you mean when the insulation came out mine did the same thing! sounded horrible ans very loud idk depends on the money situation if i have enough ill do duals if i dont i will do single

I personally dont think dual N1's would look that good, but if thats what you want I say go for it. (I personally prefer dual tip mufflers to big N1 style mufflers - just opinion)

Not to sure bro, that muffler is close to 15 years old. Not even sure they had the n1 out then or called it that . I'll try and look at the tag later and see if it says anything still. That exhaust system was the first mod I did to my gst back in the day . I still have the full exhaust and its all in good shape because I had it ceramic coated before original install, only thing that's junk is the muffler but still sounds ok unless you really get on it. Then it sounds like raspy fart can crap .

What is the point? You know cars that actually utilize the dual exhaust correctly are that way to minimize the turbulence that would be caused by the two exhausts coming to a union, as well as the fact that most duals are V8 cars and have much more sheer exhaust than our 4 bangers. Dual exhausts were born out of the necessity of functionality, not just because an engineer thought they would look bad as can be. If I saw your car out on the road with the dual chuggers on both sides, I would laugh my ass off, it is that silly, as I would with any 4 cylinder car with dual exhausts. But it is your car, i'd never tell you to do anything else other than what you want to it. Party on!

not being rude but i dont care if you would laugh people laugh at all kinds of cars i laugh at people with sill looking body kits but its their preference and as i said in a previous comment i might not be doing duals but thanks for letting me know youll laugh. if i do do it im driving right down to you so i can make your day thanks bro

Meh, I say go ahead and do it. Won't be more difficult than just adding a "Y style pipe" to branch off at the end for the dual tip. Much like the SRT-4 Neon axle back portion which is made with a snake like Y section. I'm not sure what kind of space you have under the car but if you have enough try a Camero style horizontal muffler with the dual exits.

Either way, on a N/A, just please add a decent quality muffler somewhere in the system. Some resonators do enough to quiet down the raspi-ness tin sound but a muffler can do it more effectively.
