If the engine is healthy, supporting mods are up to par, and tune is good, the engine should handle the turbo fine. Without more information and a more detailed profile, that is the best I could tell you.

your JDM motor is no diffrent than a stock motor that came in your car here other than the intake manifold. If you have the supporting mods and a good tune with out any knock or detionation you should be fine for a little while. Why put a big booster on a stock motor? you already has a T-3 maifold, external gate, custom DP and all the fuel/ managment needs? if you have all that whats a set of pistions, rods, head gasket and studs to finish her off.

IMO thier is nothing dumber than having a big turbo running 8PSI, a 20G will take you along way, with out the complications of T-3 and T-4 turbo kit building.

I highly doubt the stock internals and HG would like that turbo very much. Reason being those turboes dont come alive untill around 25+ psi which stock stuff probably wont like too much. You can run a much smaller turbo which would be in its effiency range with much less lag. 35r's are believe it or not drag turbos and have great top end potential. You'll probably see spool around 4500 rpms and if you dont have a built head and, 4500 to 6800 isnt a large powerband. I'd wait until you build the motor to throw a 35r on there... but you could run a 30r and probably have everything be ok! I'd lean more towards the 30r then the 35r.

With ARP head studs, the stock gasket should be fine. And the high psi should be alright if the tune is good. But like PSI NRG said, that's a turbo you'll be wanting to rev high with. Without a built head, it won't have good street manners at all.

Jdm 4g63's are a joke.Just make sure you have the mods like these guys said before going with that turbo. The stock headgasket is nothing to laugh at either. One of the mods on our local dsm board has a switzer built 6 bolt with an hks t04z at 35 psi,and it holds fine. He's also running sub 10's.

And to add to that, there have been many, many people to run fast times with big turbos on stock heads. There is no need for a built head with a large turbo unless you are trying to maximize everything. Actually, the street manners will be better with a stock head than a built head.

On the note of headgaskets, there are a group of members on the DSMLink forums who swear by them WHEN the block is o-ringed. With that being said, a lot of people are running huge numbers (30+ psi regularly on decent sized turbos) with the stock composite gasket.

Your stock 6 bolt will be fine with the 35r, just get some studs and a MLS headgasket. What fuel mods do you have, don't see any in your profile. With the 35r 850cc w/ keydiver chip should be the absolute minimum.

Wow, so there seems to be quite a bit of missinformation and then we have some members who have a decent idea about what they are talking about. I don't seem to have any problems running my 65lbs/min turbo at 28-30psi with completely stock 90 longblock, so that'll answer the HG and headstud question. The 35r is a great street turbo for a 2.0L, maybe the best out there for making big power and having great response whether it be transient or lag in general. The gt40 compressor will really start to wake up past 24psi but it'll still make decent power at 20psi as well. Probably the best feature about the 35r is that it gives you the ability to grow. Maybe start with pump gas and 20-22psi and run 11s, assuming you have the supporting mods for the turbo to begin with, then if you feel like going 10s, or perhaps even 9s, it can be done with this turbo.

I agree with him. There are alot of us who run just fine with the stock HG. :thumb: At 28-30psi..you will probably be in the 475-525whp range. With good tuning it should handle just fine.

I was in the same boat as you not to long ago. I wanted a 65lb/min turbo or abouts and yet to still keep my stock engine for the most part. Some one was like what's pistons and rods if you've already bought the other stuff. Unless you have a machine shop in your backyard and know exactly how to drop in all the new stuff with total confidence it's not the cheapest thing in the world. Anyway What I did is got my hands on a rebuilt head and a rebuilt short block with arp studs already on it picked up a MLS hg off ebay for liek 100 bucs and was set with a healthy engine arp studs and a descent hg. Once you peice all the engine stuff together pretty much just make sure you have every bolt on under the sun to make things as easy as possible. My biggest advice is invest in dsmlink or something along those lines like ecu+ or maft pro cause the ability to controll timing and a/f is what will keep your engine alive. gt35r + stock engine - knock = good times:rocks:
