i currently have a td05H (14b) ready to go in to my car. just waiting on some tubular manifolds. the main thing that is holding me back though is I'm afraid ill get fuel cut cause I'm running stock injectors and stock fuel pump. i wont be boosting more then 14-15 psi cause thats what ill set my MBC to. Ive searched around and just haven't found the answer to my question.
will i need a new better fuel pump and injectors for this swap? or can i run it how it is.

PS i will be getting a better fuel pump later but not for a while

thanks for any help in advance

You can definately install the 14b as is. I would suggest at least a cheap fuel pump rewire. With a rewired fuel pump you should be fine in the 14-15psi area. Every car is a little different and depending on conditions you may hit fuel cut earlier. Start at 12lbs and work up to your desired level.

Fuel pumps are cheap man. You can get a walbro 190lph for like 55 shipped in the classifieds. I have a 190 fuel pump, 560 evo injectors, and a 14b. My car can jump up to anywhere from 18-20 psi before I hit fuel cut. I've been trying to get a solid 16 psi. I still need a wideband and a solid tune before boosting 20 lbs :D

Just do not put your boost past 16 psi for now if your mostly stock.

OK awsome thank you all so much.
the manifolds I'm probably gonna get are from ebay. they are jdm tubular headers. (as much as i dislike jdm) but they are only like 115 bills. and I'm not trying to drop 300 on other headers, unless anyone has heard bad about the ebay manifolds. will Vfaq's or somewhere tell me how to rewire my fuel pump? I'm a terrible electrician. (i know enough about electricity to stay away from it haha)

You need to stay away from that manifold, your stock one will probably outperform it. If you want a nice manifold, get a FP Race manifold.

DSM-onster has been running one for over a year now with no problems, no cracked welds, no problems. Not saying they'll all be good, just saying.....

Fuel cut... learn something new everyday. Thanks habitatguy187 :thumb:

No problem man! Just be sure to pass the knowledge on to others like they passed it on to me.

:thumb: Oh yeah im not saying there bad, its just that there not worth it. I had one, then a weld cracked, i fixed it, 5 hours later it cracked in an other place. At one time it was supporting a bolt-on SC61, it made boost after 5k, we then switched to an untouched 2g mani, and it made boost right after 4k. Just something to keep in mind.

ok so ill just pass on the manifold untill i get more cash. currently my manifold isnt ported. do you think i should port it?
(the only reason i ask is cause i would have to do the complete swap in a weekend cause this car is my daily driver. im afraid the porting will take a little long. even though i do have a pneumatic grinder i could use. i just hear some people say it takes like 5 hours....)

i know 1g manis suck, one i had on car when bought was cracked to hell. but they to have a larger outlet for turbo feed. just rock one of those til you have some more money. you in chula vista? you need some help with things let me know. i swapped out my crap and put newer used 14b on my car. i recommend arp chromoly turbo bolts, ffwd copper turbo gasket, i will let you have some antisieze, and borrow tq wrench if you don thave tools, save some money.

Sounds like you got yourself a new friend :rocks:

People say that you can hit 400whp on a ported 2g mani, but how hard is it??? I'd spend your money on other things first, a 3in downpipe and tubular o2 housing (mine's ebay :) ) will really help your motor breathe. I've read that the biggest restriction to the exhaust is the one closest to the turbo.

i may just hit you up. i do have all my own tools. but having someone who has done the swap is always nice. i just gotta wait for the right weekend to do it. im actually in imperial beach now, i just recently moved actually

i do know that the ported manifold can hold alot of power. but as of now with just the swap to the 14b would i have to port it? to avoid boost creep and reduce turbo lag and all
