Will a 1g swap fit in my nt 2g?

I just finished completely redoing the cosmetics on my 2g eclipse (repainted yellow, black carbon fiber hood, lambo doors, gsx wing, blitz body kit, black carpeting with yellow custom embroidery, yellow sparcco seats, yellow and black dash trim, etc, etc.) and I want to know if either a tsi or gsx 1g will fit in my 2g. I plan on taking the engine, tranny, transfercase, and basically everything from the 1g and putting it into the 2g. Do i need to change my suspension or will the awd work? Any tips or thoughts on how to make it work? Ill post some pictures soon of the updates (looks pretty sick, just got a flamethrower kit, going to install it soon :hellyeah:)

Here are some pics of the cosmetic work

Even with all of the "cool" stuff you have done to your car, it would be easier and cheaper to sell it and by a GST or GSX. This has been talked to death, you can do a search on it.

Best option, turbo your 420a and don't look back.

I have a donor car though (91 tsi) and I want to know if I can drop everything from the 1g into my 2g... I'm not changing to a gsx or gst 2g i want the 1g parts. Besides I'm not turboing my 420a, too hard to get performance internals and by the time I spent even $500 it would have been cheaper to move the 1g into the 2g (seeing as I already have the 1g).

if you choose to swap a 4g63t in there your going to have to do alot of work and money spending LOL like cutting and welding motor mounts , buying and changing sub frames, suspension, wire harness , ect.

Turbo the 420a if you want turbo. The swap isn't going to happen unless you have deep pockets.

I've seen a number of people turbo it at 8 psi. Do not exceed or you will blow it to cloud 9.

It will not be cheaper because of all the fabricating it would take to install it. Your question is a common New person question that has been asked a 1000 times. Do a search in the forums on it and see the conversations on it. Its been beaten to death.

Remember your replacing a dodge neon motor(chrysler) with a Mitsubishi motor. They were not meant to be interchangeable. The car may look the same on the outside as a turbo, but in the engine bay they are entirely different.

well if i were to turbo the 420a, it would be for a hell more than 8psi. I'd rather spend the $$ on a performance tranny and rebuild my engine, but I had thought that swapping was the way to go, seeing as how hard it is to find good quality performance parts for the 420a

Well get into the N/T part of the forums and there are ALOT of things you can do.

I will tell you honestly, if you really wanted a 4g63, it would be ALOT easier to buy a GST/GSX that no longer runs, unbolt all of your body kit parts and bolt them in that car, and then swap your 1g motor in. Then sell your old chassis for parts or to a scrap yard.

You realize by the time you "made your car mad crazy yo" with all that money your could have bought a gsx or gst. No you can't just switch everything over. Best thing to do sell your car and put money in to your donor car. And if your going to be stubborn and say no I wont well here I'll put it simple enough so you don't get confused by what im saying.

-You could've spent all your money you put in to this little (I'm gonna say it I'm sorry guy's but In gods honest truth this car has been ruined) race car and bought a gsx or gst

-did research and realize you would have to swap over the cross member in the front to even put a turbo motor in your car.

-its to much work to just switch a gs or rs whatever you have in to a gst

-its even harder and more expensive to make this car a gsx

-NO YOU CNA TUSE YOUR DONOR CAR

So you have a different opinion of what you like in a car and I have what I like. I tend to hate the look of the 1g. You said I ruined my car? Do you think my paint job looks that bad? I'd like to see you put 15 years of body work and paint experience into your car. Don't criticize others motives because they aren't your own.

IM just saying dude you honestly don't think i know body work. Here's a picture of my 240 the reason I say this is because you want to make your car fast/ But you also want it to stand out. Unless you want to lose your license in month's its a bad idea. I will never make a car a bright color and put a body kit on it again . Because there easy to describe and easy to find.

wayyy too much work to swap over the 4g into a 2g nt chassis. if youre that attatched to your paul walker-mobile, just sell the 1g donor car and build the 420 and have a 400hp daily.

and, correct me if im wrong, but that doesnt look like a gsx wing or a blitz front body kit. looks more like an ebay special wing and bomex style front.

yes you could swap the 4g in place of the 420a it all depends on how much you want that 4g in there and how much you love your car. Everyone on here is going to tell you that it is not worth it but thats not up to them if it is worth it or not is up to you. If you have a donor then you will have most of the parts but you will still have to do some fabrication, if you can do most of the fabrication yourself than the cost is not to bad but it will take you some time. The best thing you can do is map out your plan make sure you have the parts and then jump into it in a well organized manner that will be the best thing you can do.

i have a a mig and tig welder along with a plasma torch in the shop, I mean I can weld new motor mounts and do some subframe work. I looked into 420a parts and I can't find high performance cams and good valve springs (400hp daily is what im lookin to make). As for the swap, I know the engine would be in a different spot, but the donor car literally has everthing that I plan on swapping (it runs fine right now, the body is for crap though, so much suface rust plus the nt car was my first and ive had it for almost 11 years, its like my first dollar its never gunna get spent or sold). I was planning on literally taking everything from the 1g (i.e. the engine, tranny, fuel pump, all engine accesories, pedals, ecu, wheels, axels, transfercase, etc, etc). I just wanted to know if it would work and if anyone had an idea how much fabrication it would take. Also if anyone knows where I can find good cams (not bullfrog or crower I already checked the nt forums, only 9 posts for sales and no cams/springs under the distributors section). I really want some comp cams, I just didn't think they made a cam that would fit.

I also have a budget of $2k, not the greatest but enough for some parts. In the future once i get my homebuyer credit ill have another $4k to put in.

None of the engine mounts will line up in your engine bay because they are 1g parts! You need a 2g GST to have everything you need for the swap because the 1g and 2g are fundamentally different.

It would be cheaper and WORLDS easier then to move all your body kit parts,(because they ARE interchangeable) paint your car again, then move onto modifications if your dead set on a 4g63 car.

As I said before look at the threads of people that ATTEMPTED to do this swap and never came back to the forums because they realized after trying what idiots they were. You HAVE TO KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING to accomplish this or your "beautiful" car will just end up sitting behind your house with a motor that doesn't line up with any other components IE the axles for years. I've had friends think they could do this as well and what do they end up with? Parting out everything and buying a cheap car that's already turbo or never owning a DSM again. This is years of experiance telling you its a bad idea, but its up to you to take it.

I'm here to learn from others mistakes, and I since people have failed before (at least to what I have heard) I probably shouldn't undertake the project. Though I'm still dead set on making it a 400hp daily driver. Just seems impossible to find the right performance parts I need to make the build work.:banghead:

If your gonna even try it your gonna need a 2g awd fuel talk 2g drive shaft 2g awd whole rear subframe 2g awd exhaust 2g front awd sub frame.Like i said alot more money and work than your thinking. You can't just swap everything from the 1g over. Sell your car or turbo your 420a pick one or start working 3 job's and spending all day and night working. Than plan on having your car out of comission for month's.

Why are you so set on keeping this car? Swap over the body kit your "gsx" wing and whatever is inside the car. Instead of trying to turbo this car or swap over the motor. Its not hard to find parts for your car just google 420a performance parts

the 420a can make that goal of 400 horse you can pick up eagle rods and je pistons for about 700 as for the cams they can take a lil time to find but they do have them out there but just to broaden your mind have you thought about mating a srt4 block to our 420a head i believe the parts for the bottom end are a little easier to find for the srt4
