First off, i know this question has probably been answered a million times and there are probably a million links for this answer, but i am about to buy new tires for my 1GB TSi AWD and me and my buddy were discussing the widest tire possible on stock 16" wheels, and stock height without rubbing. Thanks for your responses and i apologize in advance for more than likely repeating this question for the X time.

Oh and one more thing, my drivers side front CV WILL NOT! come out of the hub, and i can't take the whole assembly off cuz the controll arm and other thing are stuck, any ideas?

You could try using an axle puller, heat, or hitting it with a hammer with the nut on although you could easily mess up the threads doing that. I've had to take the whole assembly to a shop before and have them press it out.

For the axle problem get out your wallet. Take the hub to a shop that can press the axle out. I went to three before I found a shop that could chuck it in their press. Then have them press in a new bearing. Most likely it is rusted in and that is the best way to get it out. Of course you will need a new axle as well.

Of course a 225 will fit. Your car will ride like slush going straight or in corners, you prabably will have uneven tire wear, they will cost more, and the car will handle worse. I would just use 205's

The shouldn't shouldn't be much smaller than 85 percent smaller than the tire when performance is the target, in fact most true sports car companies like porsche and ferrari, there wheels are always very close to 90-93percent of the tire width. They also use low profile tires though. You might be doing a bigger favor for yourself to stick with the factory 205 width and get a shorter sidewall, say a 45 series. The car will have more resposive turn in and road feel and you won't be adding other problems like possibly having your tire rub on the knuckles.

i think 205/45/16 is a good setup even though it leaves a little wheel gap.

I thought about this and attempted to take the assembly off and.... yup you guessed it, that was stuck too. I almost broke a 2ft. long prybar trying to separate it from the tie rod. Oh and the tire size i was meaning to post was 235*/45or50/16, but i read the posts and got my answer, thanks guys.
