wierd problem!! No power to anything

ok so here is my problem i have a 98 talon tsi automatic trans! The other day when i was driving i went around a corner and lost power to everything! There is power to the power seats and the door lock but nothing else at all. Everything that should turn on when you turn the key forward does not come on at all! i have checked everysingle fuse 3 times and i have checked all my battery cables. i charged the battery and still nothing at all! i did here a slittle sizzle noise when i went around the corner and a quick flicker from my radio and then nothing and car died. i checked all the wiring in the back of the stero and check all the wiring running to the computer and i didnt see any bare or melted wires this is really wierd i am having trouble figuring this out PLEASE HELP. its my only car and i need it to get to work thanks!

Ok, I'd double check all the fuses. You must have a bad or broken connection somewhere, or the ECU just bit the dust. Check to see if power is getting to the ECU. Check to see if power is getting to the ignition.

ok im pretty sure at this point that the alternator has nothing to do with my problem. i already said i charged the battery and i also checked the volts on the battery with a tester and it reads 12.6 volts. i am going to check to see if there is power to the ignition today. i have checked my fuses 4 times now and 2 of my friends checked them also. i checked all the fusible links under the hood also.

Sound to me like you fried the ignition harness or switch. I would check there because 1 you heard a sizzle 2 you have power seats but nothing else seats have power all the time and are not on the igniton loop. Pull the lower dash and shoud around the collum and check the conection to the ingniton switch and harness for melting. Also get a volt meter and see if your geting power to the ingniton. If do have power and not out of the switch the switch is bad.

Ok i am stumped! i have 6 volts going to the ignition i tryed a new ignition switch and thats not it. i checked all the wiring and there are no melted or burn wires. Could this be cause by the theft system? How many volts are suppose to be going to the ignition switch? i am outa ideas.

all the ignition wires should read 12.6 volts or more when the key is in its respective positin

mine only read 6 volts and then i tryed it again a day later and it read .4 volts something is draining the battery! im starting to think something is grounding out somewhere does this sound correct? other than that i have no clue what else it could be. any more ideas would be helpfull thanks!

i had the alternator fuse under the hood pop and had similar problems,it didn't look bad at first glance but if you can't see coper it ain't proper.

i have checked and swapped and replaced all of these fuses many times under the hood and in the car.

I think it's the ignition switch as well. The fact that only those two things work lends itself to that. Out of curiousity, trace your power wire off your battery and see if it's grounding out somewhere. Or the quick trick is unhook the negative, wait 30 secs and reattach it. If it arcs you have a pretty significant power drain. And
