Wider Tires

Im curious about putting wider tires on my rims.

I currently have 215/45/17, do you think its possible to put something like 225s or 235s on the rims?

Or will i just need to get all new rims?

I recently switched from 215/50/17's to 225/45/17's on 17" x 6.5" wheels and they are working great! Check out this thread for more info: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/handling-tech/354940-215-50-17-vs-225-45-17-oem-gsx-wheels.html

Hope this helps!

Thanks, my rims are actually like 7" wide i believe. So if you can put 225s on 6.5" then i should be good. This summer when i buy new tires i will be trying to get something bigger for that nice WIDE stance look.

It will be so sexy with wider tires, mudflaps, lowered, n new exhaust.

Yes you will be fine! Tire manufactures recommend a 7" - 8.5" wide rim for 225/45/17 tires. My 6.5" rim is technically a little narrow but they are working out great for me.

i had 235/40/17 tires on my old 17x7 rims, no issues.
