wideband/FPR questions

So, im going to purchase a AEM windband and Aeromotive FPR later this week.
Wideband question
Is the old wideband sensor placement ok to put my new windband in? Also, I am going to get a dsmlink in the near furture so I just wanted to make sure that everything would work fine together.

FPR question
When I install the FPR, is it 'set it and forget it' or to i have to adjust it often. Also, does it come with dircetions on how to set it and install it?

I can't tell in the picture where that sensor is placed. Is it in the catback or the end of the downpipe? Ideally the sensor should be placed between 10 and 2 when mounted in the pipe. I don't think the angle you have will hurt it at all, but I'm just saying what the instructions say.

The AFPR is kind of a set it and forget it item. Usually I will double check it every so often (especially before I do any tuning). It might get off by a very little bit, or it might still be dead on. Yes, the instructions will tell you how to adjust it. It will be even easier than the instructions once you get ECMlink since you can use the software to turn on the fuel pump without having to turn the car on. This saves you from having to remove the vacuum line every time you want to test it.
 
Since you already have a spot for a wideband I would use it. If I remember correctly it's better if rotated up a little bit more, but it's probably not worth getting a new bung welded in. As long as your wideband has an output lead you should be able to hook it up to your ecu and log it with link. Hopefully your getting an Adjustable FPR, you didn't mention but I assume. Remember to set it to the desired psi (~42-43psi) WITHOUT the vacuum line hooked up and you shouldn't have to touch it again.

Sorry, those are the front wheels, so the sensor is located at the end of the downpipe. What is the AFPR suppose to be set at? And how hard is it to set?

42-43psi is the average setting on the AFPR without the vaccum hooked up?
 
i just instaled my aem wideband and the instructions say to have it at 10 degrees up from the middle of the pipe and if turboed (because of the hgiher exaust temps on the sensor) witch you are to have it 36 inches back from the turbo outlet but befor and kind of muffler or cat. mine it just between my shifter and e-brake and works fine.
 
I'll prob put it in that spot untill i get a new o2 housing with a bung welded in. Which shouldnt be too long after i get the wideband....

Yeah it also stated for turbo aplications to put it that far and you can use leaded fuels.
 
ok, so I talked to a local shop around my area and they said i shouldnt get the afpr because there shouldnt be a problem with running to rich only if i run lean. I do want to get one because i trust you guys more than some random shop. I dont have a afpr as of right now, Im just wondering what is the problem with me running too rich? Will it hurt my car? Its better to have more fuel than less right? Im just trying to understand clear-er.

Also, when i get it im setting it at 37psi with no vac line for a 1g?
 
I want to try and sway you away from getting the AEM unit. Innovate's LC-1 is a hell of a lot more accurate when it comes to the outputs on them. Using the AEM's output for datalogging was pretty much useless and did not match the output on the gauge at all. With the LC-1 you can program the outputs so that they match and you get a good reading if you want to log it in DSMlink. The LC-1 also updates at a much faster rate and has a lot more features to it. Plus it's generally cheaper than the AEM unit. Just because a product like the AEM unit is popular doesn't mean that it's really that great. Just my thoughts and opinions.

I was actually thinking of getting the LC-1 after I found out that AEM cant work with DSMlink. I have nothing wrong with ebay, i actually would rather buy parts from there but they're not always legit.

Yea go with the lc-1 you will be glad you did!! That guy on Ebay is great and I would buy from him again in a heartbeat.
 
Yeah, i think i will. Is that spot in the picture at the top of the thread ok to mount the wideband? Or do i need to wend a bung...
 
If that's the lower control arm bushing in the picture then yea that distance is fine. Like they said above, the directions say to have it at a 45* angle. But my buddy has it just like that and it works fine. I would put it there and not worry about it.

well gasoline does not lube the bearings all that well. therefore possible spun bearings.

I will run my car without a AFPR for about a week but thats it.

its that better safe than sorry type of thing for me.
