We were pondering this tonight..

On most cars if not all - when you are at WOT the O2 sensor which normally tells the computer what the air/fuel ratio should be is no longer in the loop due to its inefficiency to meter air that fast.

So.. a predetermined fuel map is used when at WOT since all the sensors no longer function.

At least, this is how it works on my friends mustang, and camaro..

I ask, because I wonder about our cars. At wide open throttle, does the car how some sort of wideband o2 that tells the computer what our air/fuel ratio should be?

I ask because I've modified my car to some degree.. bigger fuel pump etc.. bigger turbo.. obviously the air and gas getting put into the motor is no longer what it would be if the car was stock.

If at WOT, it is using a pretermined WOT map.. my car could be running super rich or super lean without me knowing since I don't have a logger yet.

I'm not running any higher than 15/16 psi, with a stock FPR, and a walbro 190 so I didn't think i'm OUT of the safe range yet where I need a logger FOR SURE.. however im wondering if this is the case.

Cheers

So you said at WOT it still uses things to come up with a calculation on what the air/fuel ratio should be?

Once you modify the car - is this calculation by the computer messed up?
