Saw this picture on myspace and was wondering why the guy drilled holes in the "horn" section. I'm assuming to make it sound different, but anybody have a sound clip so I can hear the difference? Just thought it was weird so decided to ask.

Yeah. It was done just to make it sound different. The type S makes a high pitch whistle noise when it blows off. Im assuming he did that to make more of a "whoosh" sound

i'm not even too sure if this does anything for the sound, since its all escaping from the same area, with no diversion for the air to go through for it to make that much of a difference. Its worth a try though I've thought about it myself.

Well that blow-off valve was meant for recirculation. If you look at other greddy blow-off valves they come from the factory with similar holes drilled in them(they have a horn like opening). Yes it's for sound purposes, but maybe the person who drilled holes in that b.o.v. was just a ricer ROFL

Well buddy, I noticed you dont have a MAF-T listed in your profile...
Unles you buy one, that BOV is Trash. The location of those holes makes it impossible to recirculate that BOV.

Sooo. put your stock BOV back on or buy one from a junkyard.. OR buy that MAF-T and install it... that will allow you to keep that drilled BOV. and sound all ricer..

Think before you talk.

Alot of you are posting and not offering any information to the poster, or even attempting to answer his question. :beatentodeath: It's not needed for that many of you to comment on DougR's post. He made a mistake, get over it and get on topic.

ANYWAY, I think even if that bov had to be recirculated it could be salvaged. Since the original poster has a turbo 420a though, like I said before the holes are for sound. It will sound different at different boost levels however, and sound will also depend on your piping setup. The only way to really be sure how it's gonna sound is to bolt it on and hit some boost ;)
