Just curious if anyone has tried ebays cheap slotted and drilled rotors. I'm thinking about it but hate to gamble on something as important as brakes. It would be for a DD. Thanks.

I wouldn't, then again I don't like to take gambles on my life. I'd rather pay for the r&d that goes into real rotors.

Also I'd stay away from drilled rotors. Pictures don't work anymore, but the driver lost the car and was lucky to be alive

Here's his rototech drilled and slotted rotor

I know it's not for an eclipse, but I used d/s rotors on my Jetta for over a year and have never had a problem... I'm using eBay pads to haha

Why do you want drilled and slotted rotors? You do realize your stopping power is less than with blanks, they aren't machineable, and are generally low quality, right?

When I was researching these I came across a lot of reviews from people that liked them. These were the kind of people that never stressed their brakes. I came across a few reviews from people that actually use their cars and they generally said the rotors warped or broke easily.

So are drilled and slotted rotors are almost bad?? I thought it helped out the pads from getting hot? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a set of this rotors on all tree of my cars for over 3 years and never had a problem but like they say I never put a lot of stress on them.

Thanks again guys, I think I'll go with a name brand "blank" or solid...for lack of a better word. LOL

i just got some rotors from rotorpros.net and they look awesome. not just drilled used brakes reconditioned that are sold on ebay.

drilled rotors are for weight and prone to cracking. just get some regular rotors or slotted if you want the look.

my buddy ran a kit from racingbrakes.com or some crap and they blew up twice on the track. once on the strip and once on the road course causing an offroad excursion with lots of damage

mine never broke but after the 3rd pass at the track or at high speed braking the rotors would start turning red and wouldnt brake right

so wait the yare just for looks you are saying>? Then why do zo6 vettes and porsche turbos come with them?

Tried set of 4 drilled & slotted Ebay rotors with Ebc green stuff brake pads, S.s. Braised brake lines.. It was scary doing at high speeds/ hard braking. They stopped way worse than factory Everything!

Drilled and slotted are more for drag racing. (i recommend slotted for a dd) slotted rotors vent the gases that buildup between pads and the rotor causing the pads to sit flush against the rotor stopping better but also heats up quicker. and they do not work as well from a cold start. I wouldn't go drilled, prone to cracking (if overheated) and pointless unless u plan on drag racing. I wouldn't go with e-bay either. I got EBC slotted for 120 online, work great, make a little noise when cold but once i brake a few times they grab good. and you can turn drilled and slotted rotors, just sounds funny while doing it. just remember you get what you pay for.

Can and should are two different things. Be careful what you post. I wouldn't want someone's life ending because they followed poor advice.

theres nothing dangerous about turning slotted rotors as long as you know how to use the lathe properly

NEITHER option actually serves a purpose with today's brake pads which release very little gaseous phase matter when they heat up (the only purpose for slotted rotors is such). The ONLY benefit of having these is for cooling, and neither is a good option.

For drag racing...

relieving heat incurred internal stresses will cause a condition where the rotors are more prone to failure than if you had left them alone in the first place. Do not turn rotors, get rotors with a replacement warranty and just replace them if you need to
