Looking at the thread on how much guys got their DSM for, I have not seen anybody that paid for a brand new DSM.

Now that I look at it, what was I thinking then??!!?!?!OMG

Not really.:D I never had a major problem with my car and it still looks new after 8 years of good service. The only thing is for $25K + tax, it is kinda expensive car at that time ( I just graduated college). $25K right now will get you a car with a nicer fit and finish like the Solstice, Sky, GTI, RX8, etc. I guess at that time (1998), I really wanted a turbo car and there was a very limited selection - the TT Supra was no longer available in California and the 3000GT VR4 did not appeal much to me.

I remember my friends telling me not to buy it since it will be crankwalked soon, and they were trying to sway me into purchasing an Acura Integra Type R. Thank goodness i did not listen to them.

I pulled it off the lot new in Aug of 91. It was the second car I had bought from that dealer.
I didn't like the way the 1gb's headlights looked so I picked out my GSX from the 6 or so of them on the lot, handed them the keys to my MR2 and drove the Eclipse home.
I went back the next day to get my MR2 back and just paid cash, it was too much fun to drive to let it go.

I also bought the FSM and a nose mask the same day I bought the car. The manuals have saved me a ton over the years.

I'm not the original owner of my car, but my uncle was. The car cost like 16k off the lot in 93 for a 2.0 non-turbo with all the goodies. I have the original receipt and paperwork for everytime it was brought to the dealership. I could almost show I was the original owner with the book of stuff i have. I remember him getting it and how mean the front end looked lit up, hell i even remember washing the car with him when i was a youngin :p

Good call on the Factory Service Manual. Your years of study are definately evident. :thumb: :tease: I was only 6 or 7 when you bought the car! I hope mine also has a long road ahead of it, its been interesting so far.

Your car's story is priceless. That would be my favorite uncle. :)

$25k doesn't go as far as it used to it seems. Seems like today the 30k bracket is comparable to the $25k that used to get you a new loaded ponycar or gsx in the mid 1990s.

My wife is the original owner of our TSi. She ordered it from the factory with everything except the leather interior & picked it up in June 92. According to the build date, it was made 1 or 2 weeks prior to the factory switching over to the 7 bolts, so she got the 6 bolt/4 bolt combo. :p She also purchased the FSM at the time, although we rarely had reason to use it. The car has been super reliable over the last 14 years - I always chuckle when I see people on the boards saying how unreliable & finicky these cars are (has everything to do with the previous owners & how well the car was cared for). We were considering finally selling it & getting an STi when we discovered the capacity of the venerable 4G63 - for less than 1/3 the cost we got more hp & get to keep a car we already know we love. :thumb: Still has the factory paint but it will be re-painted next year, stock color. :rocks:

I bought mine new in '97 (leased actually). Traded in a falling-apart, 5 year old Geo Storm. The lease was up in 2001, so I bought it again. Mine may be the most expensive DSM on tuners, not counting mods.

I never touched a thing on it for 5 years. Didn't even change the plugs. Unreliable? I don't think I even stalled it for 5 years. Then I had to go and mess with it....:tease:

I bought my RS Turbo Laser in January 1990. It was around $15k (I have the window sticker but I'm not home now). Now has 57,000 miles and is completely stock with original paint. Folks that ride in it say it still smells new inside.

Bought my 1997 GSX new in November 1996. Love it today as much as the first day I got it. Until recently when most sedans seem to be coming with near 300HP I had no desire to modify it outside of the suspension, wheels, and tires. Now after a bit money, way below what it would have cost me to get one of those new 300HP sedans, my car doesn't have to feel envious anymore..

Paid $23,200, no LSD. Current mileage ~89K. Never, ever, had a problem with it.

I got into DSM's back in 2002 after I crashed and totalled my 1 month old Honda Prelude. Although the prelude was beautiful IMO, if I didn't total it I would have never gotten my dsm. I have had a 97 gst that I sold (thanks to crankwalk), and introduced to the 1g awd. I am the second owner of my beautiful white 90 talon. The original owner was an old lady that never floored the car in the first 15yrs she owned it. I floored it non-stop back from San Diego to San Jose!

Thank god I became a turbo freak rather than a VTEC freak! LOL

Hi,

I bought a blue 6 bolt, 92 Eagle Talon Tsi brand new in December 1991. It was an A/T with CD player, but no sun roof. I paid $19,400 plus $700 for a maint agreement (ripoff!)

I tried to make it quick, but the parts just wen't available back then to make a quick A/T. Sometime in 97 I think, I bought another blue, 6 bolt, 92 Eagle Talon Tsi (on eBay) but this time I got the 5 speed. I think I paid $5,000 or so.

I moved all my aftermarket parts to the 5 speed and it was a pretty decent car.

Of course there are tourque converters, and auto shift kits that one can use to make a fast A/T. But its still more fun to drive the manual.

I get to be owner #2 for my 90 tsi. The original owner traded it in at the same dealership they purchased it from and friend got it on for me.

I wonder if there are any brand new (unused) 1G's around. I mean there's gotta be a couple in a warehouse somewhere. I was huge into shelby charges for a while (the bad boys with a 2.2 turbo:cool:) and I went to this big car show in Winnipeg (2001) where they were raffling off this charger that had 10 kilometers on it. I was like " where the hell did that come from". I went on talking to this guy and found out he had four more brand spanking new in storage. The point of this story is this, if you ever find a new 1G dsm let me know.
