Ive noticed in the past few days that there is white smoke coming from my exhaust. I have also noticed an increase in black soot in the inside of my exhaust. Could I be burning oil? I have checked for exhaust leaks and I couldnt find anything. Any help?

Do a compression test, if its low then prolly HG. Try what sickgsx said also, maybe the turbos about to shit the bed. Hopefully its just the T25 dying and you dont need to replace the HG.

if its cool then it could be moisture, does it happen in all temps? does it happen all the time? if you answered yes then your burning coolant.

Well its about 70 degrees here and it only smokes after ive been driving and am stopped for a minute or two. The smoke really doesnt have a distinct smell to it(sweet or burnt oil). I dont have any shaft play with the turbo and the inside is completely clean. Could it be just a headgasket or should I look into buying a new turbo?

To see if its the HG do a compression test. Does your car ever overheat? That would also point to HG. Are you loosing any oil? If so that would point to the turbo being bad.

I get neither one, I dont have any overheating problems and my oil has been recently changed. The oil level is fine and is still pretty fresh. Thats why I dont understand the smoke. No oil smell, no coolant smell. I will see about the compression test and see where that puts me.

don't waste your time with a compression test, too many variables. Warm up your engine and do a leak down test on it, take off your raiator cap and look if it is bubbling out with pressure applied. also you might want to warm up the engine (tell you see the smoke) and then shut it off and fairly quickly pull out the plugs to see if their is steam coming out of a spark plug hole, might have to look with a flash light.

I had the exact same problem with my 1g. The smoke just eventually got worse and worse over a couple months time. I had NO overheating problems, NO oil/coolant mixture, and GOOD compression. Recently took the head off and found two small leaks underneath the intake manifold. Redoing headgasket now. I think this is probably your problem. Good Luck!
