White Smoke / Car Is Smoking White [Merged 7-9]

Alright guys, well I just finished my 14B install in my 95 GSX. All is well besides some minor oil leaks on the return line and the SS feed line at the filter housing. There was also a VERY minor coolant leak from the front banjo bolt on the turbo. I tightened it a tad and I think i went away. Now the turbo is spooling really late because I think there may be a leak before the turbo.
Now on to the problems.

1. The turbo does not smoke at all besides at WOT sometimes it blows out whiteish grey smoke. I'm trying to think of where it could be burning coolant. It never did this before the turbo install.

2. There was some white smoke the past 2 days at the manifold. I'm thinking its the shitload of PB Blaster that I sprayed all over the car but I'm not sure.

3. There's a smell coming from my engine that I can smell if I pop my hood and it becomes more noticeable when I'm driving and really get on it. It smells like burning plastic sort of, with a mix of burning rubber. The lower heat shield is not on the car because it's a pain to get on and I haven't put it back on because I haven't had time. Nothing is touching anything hot so I 'm confused...The only possible thing is maybe I pout on a new 4 ply exhaust mani. gasket as well as antiseize on most of the bolts and the turbo-mani. bolts.

i installed it using the rre site.... that still doesnt explain why it would be pouring white coolant smoke.... has anyone ever heard of coolant leaking into the intake manifold via the TB?
 
thanks man, ill tear the TB down tomorrow and see whats up... A second note, i pinched off the lines that go to the TB and it would still pour smoke when i reved it up, im gonna do a compression test also to see if the HG is blown. ( coolant smoke is good to find exhaust leaks haha)
 
So after I did a basic rebuild on my engine, mls head gasket/arp's tq. @ 90lb, acl brg's, std. hone /w npr rings. I cranked her up and got a huge amount of white smoke. Has no distinct smell whatsoever. It is almost non-existant when cold but gets bad when hot. So I did a compression test after 25 miles....165 x 4. I checked my coolant level.....perfect.....I bought a new turbo.....still smokes.....and last night I replaced my valve stem seals, cranked it up....and it still smokes!! What next guys? Or am I getting crazy over nothing??
 
How many miles on the engine? The first 500 miles is so crucial yet so leanent. You have to be so careful and attentive to save the engine, but you can't critique every little thing, you have to let the engine "break in" before you start fine tuning the little stuff.
 
Hey everyone im still having problems with my car running rich (found out its gotta be a fuel problem). Well i replaced the spark plug wires and spark plugs (all NGK) and im still having problems. Now where else can i look for this problem? Ive read about resetting the ECU to reset the long term fuel trims, could that be a possible fix?. Could that possibly work? Also im still having a CEL for my Fuel Pressure solinoid (sp?) but i dont have the vacuum lines hooked up to it but i do have the electrical connection still hooked up. What could this be ? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I have gotten myself a MLS head gasket on ARP's before, got the block and head re-surfaced, and IT DID NOT SEAL. Got myself another one, and copper sprayed it before installing it(thought that was the problem), and still had white vapor smoke on the exhaust tail pipe. What I would recomend for you my friend is to get a STOCK OEM mitsubishi headgasket. They are know to withstand 25 psi with ARP's for a great while, just don't get too greeddy. That fixed my problem! So replace the MLS.
 
wouldnt that show up in a compression test/loose coolant/and have a sweet smell at the tailpipe?? Its really weird it doesnt really smell like anything...just shit LOL.
 
also I dont seem to be loosing any coolant or significant amt. oil

I did not either, I would loose coolant and would have to re-fill it about 2-3 weeks after. Remove your spark plugs, and then with a VERY BRIGHT white light check to see if one of your pistons might looked like its been steamed cleaned.

I would have my best bet that replacing your MLS HG would fix your problem. Fixed mine, and also when I was in that particular pickle, I searched and searched about MLS headgaskets, and let me tell you, THEY ARE A REALL PAIN IN THE ASS to get them to seal. If you have recently re-surfaced your block and your head, replace it and get a oem(light copper spray). Just make sure to clean your mating surfaces REAL GOOD.
 
Man that sucks....:cry: Last time I checked i had around 169 +/- 3 on compression @ 15 miles. Lemmie check compression one more time and inspect the piston like you say. I'm at 105mi now and am starting to get on the boost a little. It dosent seem to be smoking as much now but it will under boost.
 
Ok so update, Plugs look fine, pistons look fine, still havent lost coolant but I did a comp check and came up with 165 152 162 165. So I Pressurized #3 with the cam dowel pins pointing down. And got air leaking out of the #1 cylinder spk plug hole????? **EDIT** I changed the orientation of the crank and felt air coming from dipstick, then I poured a capful of oil in #3, checked comp again and got 173...what does this mean?? 105mi not enough break in time??

now I know why the dipstick pops out under boost....thoughts? anyone
 
*PROBLEM SOLVED*

I been doing some thinking and found that the smoking usually was at a high rpm when the engine was cold. Or under heavy throttle at any time. I recently relocated the oil feed from the head to the filter housing. At warm idle, when the OP is real low, like 1/8" above the first line. The oil was POURING out of the feed when I disconnected it. So I went back to the head supply. And voala, no more smoke. Conclusion-too much OP?? I recently rebuilt the engine and one of the balance shafts was still in place with no belt, and the oil pump was converted to no balance shaft. This would cause a lot of OP right?? Are my turbo seals damaged?? Is it safe to grab oil from the head at this point?? Thanks.

i replaced it my self , and yes i replace the head gasket , water in the cylinders is white smoke then ? shit , how come becouse the head gasket is new and in a shop they polish the head
