My car never smoked before, I did a boostleak test from the turbo inlet with a bike pump to around 13psi found a vacum line leak fixed it and put it all back together. Started my car and it started smoking, took off down the street and left a huge cloud of white smoke in first and second gear. Is this normal after a boostleak test?

Doesn't sound very normal. At 13psi, you shouldn't have blown any seals.

Is it blue-white smoke or white smoke? Blue-white is oil burning, while white is either coolant or water.

Did it go away or does it still smoke?

Can you post how you did your boost leak test?

I thought it was blue-white, my friend said it was white smoke. It did not smell like oil burning.

I drove the car straight home, about a mile and shut her down. Have not started it again to see if it is still smoking.

Did leak test from turbo inlet with bike pump to 13psi.

Was it still smoking on that one mile ride home? Did it seem to smoke more under boost?

Also, was the smoke coming from the exhaust pipe or maybe just coming from the engine compartment? White smoke (steam) from the engine compartment might just be a blown radiator hose. White smoke coming from the tail pipe is probably a blown head gasket.

Blue-white smoke coming from the engine compartment could be a number of things. Coming from the exhaust pipe under load might be a blown turbo seal.

So if it's burning oil coming from the exhaust pipe under boost, pull your LICP off your compressor outlet and check for fresh oil. Oil normally collects in there from oil vapors being blown into your intake pipe from your valve cover breather. Clean up any oil in the compressor outlet, pull the VC breather off of your intake pipe, cap the nipple on your intake pipe, then go for a short drive and hit full boost for a couple of seconds. Then check the compressor outlet again for fresh oil.

You can also pull the intake pipe off of the compressor inlet and check for shaft play: both side-to-side and in-out. Do this with a cool motor. You will have some side-side, but you shouldn't have any in-out. If side-side play is enough to touch the compressor housing, that's not good either.

Anyway, this all depends on whether it's white or blue smoke and if it's coming from the exhaust pipe or the engine compartment.

The car has set for a couple of hours so I went and started it and no smoke. I took it for a drive and ran the piss out of it and no smoke. Could I have pushed oil in the cylinders doing the boostleak test or what?

Which vacuum line? Depending on the vac line, there might have been water in the line that got sucked into the intake mani, causing that smoke.

The line to the right on the Emissions Control Solenoid.

Well, if water got sucked into the EGR then it certainly could have gotten into the cylinder and still caused that smoke....... just some speculation, at least the smoking has stopped....

Pulled LICP off first thing this morning, no oil. Pulled intake from Turbo and had a bit of play but was not hitting housing. Drove again today and no smoke. Anyone have more insight on this?
