I have a 1g FWD turbo and have some worries that something big is about to happen. Abou three months ago I installed an extension onto my intake pipe so that it wouldnt interfere with my intercooler piping. After I had done this I noticed that the turbo started to whistle even when I was just at around -5- to -10 in vacuum. It wasnt that loud at first but now it has started to get louder and Im not exactly sure why it would be doing this. Also just last night I was out with the car and went to into boost and the coolant light came on. Just last week or so I had added some coolant. My car doesnt put out any smoke except when it is warming up and then the smoke goes away. I think that smoke is from the valve seals. But im not exactly sure why the coolant light came on and it did it more than once last when I went into about 8 pounds of boost. Does anyone know why it could be whistling and why the coolant light came on? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated cause I have to drive it everyday to school. Thanks.

after you drive it and the coolant light comes on check the coolant and make sure you haver the correct level of coolant and there arent any air bubbles. If it is fine and the level is the sam you may have a coolant sensor problem. My turbo whistels under low boost 2-3psi...but thats problly the two holes about the size of a sheet rock screw.

Well I went and drove the car and took the coolant top off of the coolant bottle and looked and there were little air pockets at the top when I opened it and then they went away. Also my coolant level is above the full line. Should I take some out or just drain the whole thing and then refill it?

OK if the resevior is full along with the cap right next to the cylinder head then you should be fine...if the sensor is whats messed up, meaning you have a full coolant lvl , no air pockets in the system, and arent burning coolant. Then its the sensor messing up and you should be fine...try and pull codes somewhere If you had a 2g I could pull them for you but I believe 1gs wont work with the ford ngs.
