Whistling Sound at Idle after 1g Head install on 2g, Not Turbo

Hey my buddy messed up his engine pretty bad, ruined his head and melted a piston, long story short. After installing the new piston and a new 1g head the car runs again. But when we started it up after about 15 minutes at idle the car began to whistle pretty loud. Its coming from the Intake manifold area, but i dont know for sure... It definately not the turbo though. Also when I rev it on the ups of the rev it goes away but then once the rpms have stopped rising or are on the down then the whistle sound comes back. Let me know what you think it could be,,, thanks.
 
u said he messed his engine up real bad???...did u check the intake manifold for cracks or any loose or punctured hoses for vaccuum leaks.

If your not even sure of what it could be. Start replacing hoses.
 
It cant be the manifold because we did a 1g head swap so we put a 1g intake manifold on it. But we started it up again after letting it fully cool down and let it idle it started whistling again right away but we decided to take it for a quick lap around the block, we get back to my house and pop the hood and the whistling was even louder, im pretty much positive it isnt a vacuum leak it sounds more like metal on metal contact, i think it could be one of the cam caps on the cam so Im gonna pull them off one by one and check to see if there is any scarring or anything. I have one more question though, we did a 1g head swap and he has a 97 so we used a 97 CAS, the CAS gets really really hot for some reason but it isnt whats making the whistling, is it supposed to even get warm?
 
Well the check engine light was on so we made a trip to autozone to get the DTC's checked and on the way there the whistling didnt get any better. It pretty much is staying the same, whenever we let off the throttle it starts making the sound but when we are giving it gas and the rpms raise it goes away. So I got back home and since earlier we noticed alot of smoke coming out of the exhaust I decided to pull the plugs to see if they would tell us anything, sure enough each plug is Covered in Oil. And 2 of the plugs had a slight orange color to them on the white tip part. Please help, shoot me some ideas on what it may be.
 
The code was something for emissions... didnt have anything to do with the problem on the car... Any ides on whats wrong wit the car? HELP!!!:confused:
 
naw I really doubt its a vacuum leak, I hate to say it but it sounds almost like metal to metal contact but its weird how its only on the downfall of the rpms, also why the heck would there be oil in all 4 cylinders? and why would half of the spark plugs be orange?
 
Are you going to diagnose this in text form only or actually go out to the car and come back with results from suggested tests?

"Something emissions" is really kind of vague and doesn't help those trying to help you. Something emissions could be an upstream o2, egr valve, egr vacuum solenoid line, MAP/MAF sensor, or a bunch of other things that deal with engine management as well as emissions.
 
Well the emmissons code is going off because we did a 1g manifold swap we didnt reinstall the MAP sensor because there is no place for it so it just kind of dangles there and we blocked the egr so we know that thats the code its throwing.
