2G Whining noise, but only in 2nd and 4th. Accelerating only.

A few months ago I replaced my clutch with a Southbend ssx full face ceramic. Shortly after the install I noticed a whining noise. The noise only happens in 2nd and 4th gear, but is loudest in 2nd at low-mid RPM's. Once you get into the higher RPM's it gets higher pitched and then fades away to almost nothing. Could possibly be speed related vs RPM. Its hard to tell.

In 4th gear, its is no where near as loud as 2nd. But it is there. Every other gear is completely quiet. The noise only happens under acceleration and not deceleration. When my input shaft bearing went bad a while back it made noise under deceleration

The trans was completely overhauled by Sheppard about 25k miles ago. Evo 3 first gear, shep spec 2nd, new gears and synchros, the works.

I know that my transfer case has had some metal in it recently, and im sure its on its way out. But I was curious if the tcase could cause a gear specific whine. Maybe its just the amount of load on it that is only makes noise some times? Not sure. I have never had a whine that is only in 2 gears. Any input helps. Thanks guys.

Check the transmission fluid and make sure its up to level. Might as well check the t-case fluid as well. Did the whine only present itself with this new clutch? What type of trans fluid are u running?

The fluid is good. Just replaced it when I did the clutch swap 500 miles ago along with the T-case. I'm running Pennzoil synchromesh in the trans and shockproof in the Tcase. It did only start after the clutch swap that I noticed. Maybe about 150 miles after I noticed it.
