I'm kinda having a dilemma and need your opinions.
I bought a 95 gsx that has major cancer on the rockers(red car) and strut tower mounts. Knew how bad it was but planned on getting a donor car, which now that ive done, im not sure which one to use. I found a 97 donor chassis that's in fairly good shape.
The dilemma I'm at now is this: do I fix the rockers and other areas on the gsx with parts from the donor car? Or modify the donor car to accept the rear end? Either way, alot of cutting and welding needs to be done either way, but which, at this point, is going to be the least/worth the most to me.
3 Things to keep in mind.
1. This is a from the ground up build. eventually i will be throwing a ford super 8.8/9 or dana 40/60 under it mated to a bullet 2.1 destroker, so work has to be done in the rear of each car either way.
2. I'd like to be able to say it's a true gsx but at the same time, I'm not sure with as much chopping and welding I'm going to have to do it's going to make a difference when it's said and done. Especially if I slap the gsx dash into it. Only thing that'll prove it's not is the chassis stamped Vin.
3. I've built a few cars(not quite this powerful or with as much work) but i generally started with a good shell to build on, so body work was usually done by a body shop and is not my forte. My welds look worse than the troll posts on "i see you dont know shit about welding". If you know you know
. I have no idea what would be harder between the two. Building supports for a rear end or fixing rockers/strut mounts?
I wasn't sure where to put this, if you need to move to another forum please do and let me know which to put it under.
