Alright after having many a problem with my tranny, Jon at TRE is building mine up.

Now I asked him the still unanswered question of which one does he recomment, his answer...any of them.

As we continued to talk he suggested in transmissions that are rebuilt and see abuse he said the Redline MT-90, for the reason its thicker then most oils but still has a decent viscosity.

The Synchromesh he explained was too thin, better for cars with stock transmissions wanting something a little better then fluids just purchased off the shelf.

Remember this is all for the Manual Transmissions.

I also talked to a guy i work with about gear oils, he suggested in AWD vehicles running the Joe Gibbs Racing Lube in the rear-end and Transfer case...after seeing the stuff in person I would have to agree.

Feel free to add suggestions or questions.

Tranny: 1 qt. Redline MT-90, 1 qt. Redline MTL, 1 qt. Redline Heavyweight Shockproof
Transfer Case: Redline Heavyweight Shockproof
Rear Diff: Redline Heavyweight Shockproof

Or if you want spend quite a bit more, go with NEO RHD in the tranny and Redline Heavyweight Shockproof in the T-Case and Rear Diff.

This was a recommendation given to me by a friend/DSM tranny builder that had many low 11sec timeslips in his 2.4L '90 GSX... You may know him as a DSM Wiseman on this forum. His name on here is NDgsx... He used to build trannys at Pina Motorsports up here near Seattle, but now he has his Evo and doesn't post here much anymore and no longer works at Pina as well.

This is actually something that Jon Ripple (of TRE) recommends against.
It causes a thin build-up of a yellow waxy sustance, and that can clog the passageways in the tranny, potentially robbing some surfaces of lubrication.

Jon physically showed this to me on the inside of a transmission that had been running the shockproof, so I definitely believe him.

I also run the Joe Gibbs stuff in my rear diff. No problems with it thus far. Definitely don't run it in the gearbox though. It's not intended to work with syncronizers.

I remember reading this somewhere, might have been on his website. But you def. have to be careful just mixing oils with each other, there is alot of engineering in the oils and not everything mixes.

I use straight Heavy shockproof in my TRE in Wisconsin and it shifts fine. You have to let it warm up for a little bit though.

There are a lot of people running Heavy Shockproof mixes right now, I've seen no reports of any negative experiences related to it's use.

I have a Shockproof / Syncromesh mix in my TRE trans and it shifts great.

This is correct but Redline states that it's products are compatible with conventional and synthetic lubes.

Mixing issues are mostly with greases and the different soaps that they're based on.

I also have a TRE trans, and while I know redline MT-90 is the best option, i couldn't find any on the shelf where I live ( i know i can get it online) so I went with a mix of BG syncroshift and mobil 1 tranny fluid.......it works like a charm.

OUt here on the east coast the big thing is the BG Synchroshift. A good friend of mine told me 2 quarts BG Synchroshift and 1 quart Pennzoil Synchromesh. Or just straight BG synchroshift. Although after reading all this, I may try out some of this Redline stuff. I can't say I remember seeing it anywheres though.

I'll second that, I was at John's shop dropping off a core about a week ago and he showed me the build-up from running shockproof in the trans. Might not have caused a direct problem but it sure didn't look good! Looked more like axle grease at that point then transmission fluid. He recommended straight MT-90 to me as well. Since my car isn't a daily driver I'm not to worried about my mix of syncroshift and shockproof for now, but I would not suggest it to anyone who is daily driving their vehicle anymore.

1 Quart Of Heavy And 1 1/2 Quarts Of Light Wieght Made A Huge Difference In My Shift.
